Meet the Wranglers of Roos and Coos Farm
TL;DR: Harvest Hosts visits Roos and Coos Farm in Plant City, FL, meeting exotic animals and Host Christina Peters. Christina shares how being a Host enriches both her sanctuary and the experiences of visiting Members, offering them unique farm activities and interactions with rescued animals. Joining Harvest Hosts is a win-win for both Hosts and Members alike.
On a recent trip to Plant City, FL, Harvests Hosts hung out with the ducks, raccoons, and a kangaroo (yes, you heard that right!), at Roos and Coos Farm, Exotic Rescue, and Sanctuary.
We loved meeting the animals, but the highlight of the visit was sitting down with Christina Peters, Host at this unique location. If you’ve thought about joining Harvest Hosts, you don’t want to miss Christina’s perspective on her experience hosting Members from all over the world.
How Roos and Coos Discovered Harvest Hosts
A volunteer discovered Harvest Hosts while seeking ways to raise funds for the non-profit animal sanctuary. Christina decided to join as a Host. Over the last few years, working with Harvests Hosts has been nothing short of wonderful. One thing that stands out is the number of Members who visit and volunteer during their stay.
What Can Members Do on the Farm?
Christina’s mission is to give guests an experience to remember. Some Members immerse themselves in the farm life. Others simply want to relax and watch the exotic cattle grazing nearby. The dazzling Florida sunrises and sunsets are unforgettable!
One family requested a farm experience and was invited to extend their stay to learn more about farming. There’s nothing like being in the middle of things to appreciate how much goes into providing a safe, clean, and loving home for the animals lucky enough to have found sanctuary here. You too can pitch in during your stay and feed the animals or help with other farm chores. Why not learn all about tractors or drive the zero-turn? It’s all part of a day in the life on a farm.
One Member’s Unique Perspective
Harvest Hosts Member, Virginia (Ginger) C recently spent a night at Roos and Coos and loved the educational and fun tour. She says, “It was great to learn of how the different animals came to the farm, and so good to see the love and compassion of the owner for these beautiful creatures…It was very nice to be able to actually feed and pet many of them.”
How You Can Benefit from Joining Harvest Hosts
On what it’s like being part of Harvests Hosts, Christina says, “It’s a win-win situation for everyone. We get to meet really great people, and they get to meet really wonderful animals.”
When you decide to join as a Host, you have an entire team standing behind you. In addition to the real people behind Harvest Hosts, You’ll love the Harvests Hosts app—something we offer that makes life a little easier. Christina uses the app to welcome Members when they reserve a stay. Through the app, she can respond immediately when a Member requests a stay. Beyond approving stays, the Harvest Hosts app allows Hosts to include a personalized greeting, their address, and anything a Member may need to know before arriving.
Recent guests agree, and more than one recommends scheduling a tour to meet the animals. The bird sanctuary and reptiles are favorites, but make sure you stop by and say, “hello” to the pigs and goats. Christina and her team are gracious and welcoming Hosts. It is not hard to see why Roos and Coos Farm is such a popular location.
