RV Camping in Northern New Mexico

New Mexico as a whole is an incredible place to visit, especially in an RV. We’ve previously covered traveling to Southern New Mexico and all it has to offer RVers. Northern New Mexico has an especially beautiful and inspiring landscape, as well. There are also countless attractions and RVing opportunities to find here.

In addition to the attractions, there are also a few noteworthy towns that should be on every New Mexico traveler's list. Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the United States and the second oldest town overall. Don’t let that fool you though, as this trendy art town has plenty to do aside from historical tours. Likewise, the city of Taos truly has almost everything. There’s a thriving art community, as well as a world-class ski resort, a World Heritage Site, an iconic church, and a majestic landscape. Last, but not least, Northern New Mexico also encompasses the city of Albuquerque. This city is made up of a special mix of bustling-city-meets-multicultural-history. The contrast of the modern city skyline against the desertous Sandia Mountains is unrivaled.

Harvest Hosts members wishing to travel through Northern New Mexico are in for a treat. We have compiled a list of just a few of the best places to visit with your Harvest Hosts membership. In order to take advantage of every location on our list, members must have the upgraded golf membership which grants access to hundreds more locations. Buckle up and grab your sunglasses as we explore some Harvest Hosts locations in Northern New Mexico.

1. Coyote del Malpais Golf Course - Grant, NM

An expertly designed green combined with the elegant backdrop of Mount Taylor gives The Coyote Golf Course a unique character. Each of the eighteen holes offers five tee distances to challenge your game. There are also sixteen lakes throughout the course. In addition, Coyote del Malpais Golf Course offers an on-site snack bar for a quick bite to eat. This Harvest Hosts location has four reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size available.

2. Route 66 Junkyard Brewery - Grants, NM

Located on Route 66, this unique brewery provides a fun atmosphere with plenty of drinks to choose from. If you aren't a fan of beer, they also offer New Mexico wines and hard ciders. They occasionally prepare BBQ food, which is quite popular among the locals. If you happen to be staying on a Friday or Saturday night, you may be lucky enough to catch a movie in their drive-in theater. This Harvest Hosts location offers up to fifteen reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs of any size.

3. Our Desert Homestead - Rio Rancho, NM

Just north of Albuquerque lies one of the hidden gems of Harvest Hosts. The property is owned by former RVers, the Raki family, and it includes farm animals and an off-grid home. Troubled by all the trash surrounding their property that was previously dumped by townspeople, the Rakis began cleaning up the trash and also repurposing as much as possible. They practice the art of upcycling, or finding another use for a discarded object. Old tires become tree planters or trail markers, buckets become chicken feeders, and old feed bags become reusable grocery bags. The Raki family strives to produce as little waste as possible and enjoys teaching visitors about their way of life. Visitors can receive a tour of their off-grid set up and renewable energy sources or a tour of homesteading activities. The best way to patron this host is to purchase some of their upcycled goods, cactus crafts, firewood, or eggs that are for sale seasonally. They offer two reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs up to twenty-nine feet in length. They also offer potable water.

4. Ponderosa Valley Winery - Ponderosa NM

Located just west of Santa Fe, Ponderosa Valley Winery is not to be missed. Returning New Mexico visitors may have seen their award-winning wines in local liquor stores before. The vineyard itself was established in 1976, with the winery opening later in 1993. They currently produce a variety of reds, whites, and a rosé. They have also won awards at the Indy International Competition, Colorado State Fair Wine Competition, and the New Mexico State Fair. At Ponderosa Valley, theners abide by a vaery strict rule: if a wine does not receive at least a bronze metal in a formal wine competition, they will not release it. Talk about standards and quality! This Harvest Hosts location has one reservable space for RVs under forty-four feet in length.

They are also located near some unique local attractions, including petroglyphs, fishing spots, and hiking opportunities. In addition, they currently produce award-winning whites, reds, rosés, and hard cider, with local beers available for purchase, as well. This Harvest Hosts location has four reservable, pet-friendly spaces for RVs up to forty-four feet in length.
