We live on 10 wooded acres in a wooded area. The surroundings tends to be very quiet, although hunting dogs are common. Turns on the circular drive are tight - please see the pictures to determine whether you will be able to navigate them. Note: Take the driveway clockwise, especially when leaving. Due to the tail swing of we would recommend a limit of 25' for trailers. Although tight, we have little trouble with our 35' Class A motorhome. Some of the trees have branches that may be too low for taller RVs. We keep them trimmed for our own RV, which is 12'3" tall. The camping spots have not been leveled yet, but we manage to level our own 35' motorhome with some strategic maneuvering and some blocks for the wheels/leveling jacks. We have a dedicated RV-spigot at the side of the house that is rated for potable water. It is too far from the camping spot for a permanent hookup, but you are welcome to use it to replenish your fresh water tank. Since we're on a well we ask that you limit your refill to about 20 gallons. Wi-Fi is available if you need it, but our connection is very slow (Verizon DSL limit here is 3 Mbps). Mobile phone coverage is spotty. Check-in times: before dark - it'll be quite difficult to navigate the driveway in the dark Check-out times: flexible The only times check-in/out would be limited is when other boondockers have a reservation. Suggested Local Attractions: - Richmond, VA - Hanover, VA - Numerous historical sites - Numerous Civil War sites - Williamsburg, VA (60 min drive) - Colonial Williamsburg - Jamestown Settlement - Kings Dominion Amusement Park - Mount Vernon (2-hour drive) - Washington, DC (2-hour drive) - Monticello (1 1/4 hour drive)

Location

Access Road Conditions: From the paved road it's a couple of hundred yards of fairly well-maintained gravel road. Driveway is gravel also. Turns can accommodate up to 30' trailers and 35' motorhomes, assuming you're comfortable navigating tight turns. See the photos and the aerial view to get an idea of the turns. IMPORTANT: Take the (gravel) driveway CLOCKWISE to avoid getting stuck in the turn. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Depending on the combined length you can park the tow(ed) vehicle with the RV. Otherwise you can park elsewhere on the property (<100' away). Due to the relatively tight turns in the driveway we recommend that you unhook your toad or dolly right after turning into the driveway.

This was a perfect location for my weekend visiting Richmond and relatives at RMC in Ashland. The post is accurate about the access and driveway to be narrow winding and gravel. This was not a problem for my Jeep towing a teardrop. Site is dirt/grass and not flat and level. This again was not a problem just wanted to mention so as if that is an issue for your rig. Bring your blocks and chocks! I enjoyed talking to each guest and found many things in common. Thanks for the hospitality!

Aire met us and we had nice chat. Great woods . We did a day trip to Williamsburg. Quiet. Tight turn out the driveway and our rig is 17 feet. We bbqed and our dog loved the woods as did we.

It was a very lovely secluded location that wasn't too far from the city but just far enough to feel like we were camping. Definitely plan to come here again, the owner was very kind and accommodating as well.

Unfortunately we were unable to stay with them. We had some scheduling issues, and had to change our plans. Blackbear Trail was very understanding.
