In nice weather, I have a lovely courtyard with porch for visiting and a nearby creek with trickling or rushing water, depending on the time of year. We have a lovely creekside patio for morning coffee or afternoon visiting. Suggested Local Attractions:We are a few miles from Salida, a small artist town, with many galleries, great resale shops, and many restaurants; some on the Arkansas River. Hiking in the nearby national forests, bicycling world-class mountain trails and rafting and fishing on the Arkansas River are all available. And don't forget sitting by the creek in the shade at the creekside patio, or on the porch in the courtyard, or walking the shaded trail beside the creek.

Mike and I are retired and have traveled the western US and to Mexico several winters in the past, usually hauling ATV's, or more recently a small car behind our Host camper and GMC pickup.. Details: Summers are so wonderful in Colorado at our elevation of 8,300 feet that we have tended to stay home for these wonderful months. We have a parking area (max rig size: 34 feet) beside our smallish cabin in the mountains beside a creek. The national forest rises on the mountain behind us. Mike is a retired mechanical/construction engineer and enjoys working on his older race cars, one a MG Midget and a second, Ocelot. He races in "Vintage" category at Colorado tracks. He also makes laminated wood canoe paddles on occasion, which he did as a full-time business for many years. I (Pat) am a retired writer/editor/photographer, and enjoy working in my courtyard and gardens. We have an old railroad track beside our creek which is a wonderful walk mornings or evenings. We enjoy our visitors, and at one time ran a B&B. Within the past few years I have discovered alcohol ink painting and love it. We were whitewater rafters and have run the Grand Canyon in AZ, the Middle Fork of the Salmon in Idaho, the Yampa in CO and of course, the nearby Arkansas. We have two ATV's and go on mountain trails and twice have taken them down to Copper Canyon in Mexico. We love canoeing in the Ozarks and Mike enjoys fishing when he can. Our travels have taken us all over Mexico, as we tended to go to out-of-the-way places with our pick-up camper for a few days or a week before moving on. We also spent two months in Antigua, Guatamala housesitting! We speak just-adequate Spanish and love our friends that we have in Mexico. We have also visited Caye Caulker, Belize several times. I write a blog only when we travel: patbickeljones.blogspot.com Home Town: Salida is a wonderful little town that has evolved into an artist community, with many, many activities going on each weekend during the summers. Every Thursday, plus weekend nights, finds music to tap your feet at in several of the restaurants around town. Along with microbrews to be tasted everywhere. Our home is 12 miles west of Salida. Because we like to travel in state spur-of-the-moment, we'd appreciate your careful consideration before requesting a stay, so cancellations won't be necessary. Skills or Expertise to Share: Mike is an engineer with terrific problem-solving skills.

we loved staying at Pat and Mike’s lovely Hacienda on the creek . It was easy to find - and yes, it IS the very first right turn coming west on Rt 50 past the lighted parking area on the eastern downhill . we had a nice level spot and slept well with the sound of the creek . A lovely peaceful spot. Communication was great as I’d mixed up my dates! Pat set it all straight. we jad to leave early in the morning, so didnt have a chance to visit . we would love to stay here again when we don’t have to rush back home !
