Nous sommes bilingues, français + English. Chelsea is a bilingual town beside a bilingual national capital region. Chelsea, Quebec is a great location to visit the federally operated Gatineau Park with over 200 km of walking and hiking trails and some great bike trails. Some of these trails can be accessed 50 m from our front door. Many of the roads in the park are closed to motor traffic much of each week. We are 1km from a 22km Chelsea shared bike/walk community trail on a converted rail corridor that follows the Gatineau River. Ottawa, Canada's capital is 20 minutes south of us. It is a major city [~1million] with many urban attractions and a very extensive network of bike routes and shared biking/walking paths. Shopping, the arts, and entertainment are all at hand. Suggested Local Attractions:Gatineau park; Gatineau city bike routes; Ottawa/Gatineau museums and art galleries. Chelsea and even more so Gatineau and Ottawa have a wide variety of restaurants presenting food flavours from many areas of the world.

Location

Access Road Conditions: We are accessed by a short [~200m], but challenging gravel road off the municipal paved road. First there is a 40m steep hill. Finally, entering the property can be done by reversing into the lane-way or by backing out when leaving. In either case one should be familiar with back one's rig ~40m. The lane is at ~110deg to the short street. There are trees on both sides that we try to keep trimmed sufficiently. Turning a trailer would be difficult; small motor-homes maybe able to manage to turn. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: On the property

Thank you so much for opening your home to fellow travellers. I really appreciate your help with my toilet bolts coming loose. I finally got that fixed myself the other day after putting it off so long the other nut came loose. Lovely couple we sat on the deck and drank our craft beer, and I hope to be able to visit again on my way back west. The access road is a bit of a challenge but the result is worth it, wouldn’t want to drive up or down in the winter though.

Martine and John are wonderful hosts. Their property is only 20 minutes away from downtown Ottawa and is located near Gatineau Park. Their home is surrounded by trees and very quiet. John and Martine are very welcoming and we enjoyed our conversations. We hope to meet them again sometime. Highly recommend.

our hosts made our stay very special, we benefited from great hiking recommendations on the nearby trails. Our hosts were very interested in hearing and sharing travel stories. Directions were clear to reach their hideaway high in the Gatineau hills although google maps lead us astray on the first attempt. Although the access road is a steady climb we had no issues. This was our first Boondocker stay and we hope our next host will be as welcoming as these hosts.

I wanted to welcome them as new members of Boondockers Welcome and brought them a local extra-large pizza! Very good experience had a long chat with them.. Note: the road to reach their house would be tricky depending of your setup as there is a stiff hill to climb very sharp.. in gravel. Was great meeting them!
