We are 40 min. north of Grand Rapids, Michigan, 3.2 miles from M37, and 12 miles from US 131. Google Earth does not have a up to date photo of our property. 3D Earth has a good picture. We are in the country, so you will have a quiet night with thousands of stars. Surrounded by our 40 acres of woods, our bird feeders and flower gardens attract plenty of birds and wildlife. We have a patio with a fire pit to share with you and walking trails for you to explore. There are many small towns in the area with a lot of different attractions — too many to list. Area restaurants offer a variety of food and Newaygo offers quaint shopping along with a river walk. Enjoy nearby lakes and rivers to fish, boat, tube and kayak. There is a place on the river that rents tubes and kayaks. Our biggest rig so far was a 45’ three axle toy hauler. Our area for parking is 100’ long and 70’ wide. Turning into the drive was more difficult than parking our guest said. If traveling with friends we have room for three trailers, but you would need 60’ of electric cord and 100’ of water hose if you wanted to connect to utilities. One night stay please if traveling with friends. 2022 was our first year and we had know idea how important Wy-Fi was to our guests. I thought of boondocking as camping and what would I need. We found out that many guests are still working or are full timers and need to be connected. We have fiber to the house now and May of 23 our first guests had Wy-Fi in their trailer with out a router in the barn. If your coming to visit and need to dump and are south of Grand Rapids on US 131, exit 75 is a Camping World.

House Rules

Normal quiet time after 10 PM. If we are out with you, we will try to be quiet if you need to go to bed. Please have your pets on a leash. They can do their thing in the woods, but if they don’t please clean up after them. No recreational drugs. We kindly ask for a 3pm or after check in time. We still work and would like to be around when you show up. If you need to show up earlier, and don’t mind coming in by yourself, let me know.

Location

There are all paved roads to us. We have a one lane drive which will require a wide turn entering and exiting. For the longer rigs, 55’ + total, coming in from the East is better. You can drive on the side of the road and maybe in the grass a little to make the swing wider. Our mailbox and the neighbors mailbox hampers that approach from the west. I am 52’ total with my rig and coming in from the west is no problem. Please do not worry about tearing up the parking area, I have a tractor to fix any imperfections that may be made. We have a lot of room for dropping a tow vehicle in the driveway. There is one spot with water and electric at this time.

My wife, Melissa, and I love the outdoors. I enjoy hunting and fishing, while Melissa likes spending time in her flower gardens and going for walks on our 40 acres of wooded property. Camping is a highlight for both of us. Although we have traveled throughout the USA, most of our camping adventures have been in Michigan — a state we love! Since both of us are extroverts, it is no surprise we truly look forward to meeting and getting to know people! When we saw Boondockers Welcome, it was a natural and easy decision to become hosts. We look forward to traveling to Boondockers locations and getting the “inside scoop” about places to go and things to do while we are there. As hosts, we hope to share information about our local community and all that it has to offer. Our backyard, patio, fire pit, and walking paths are always “open” for our guests to enjoy. Melissa has been in education all of her life, and I have been in construction. We promise not to assign any homework or rope you into any home projects, though! We simply hope our guests relax as they enjoy camping in our “country oasis”. We have been hosting since 2022, and we are always excited to welcome guests!

This is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Keith was very nice and accommodating! Cell service was a little spotty (we have Verizon), but there is guest internet available. I don't know if it could handle streaming or remote work, but it worked to keep in touch with family. We enjoyed our stay very much!

This was our second stay at Country Oasis so we are "two timers" and what a wonderful stay it was. First night Keith invited us to visit with his family at their outside fire pit. I mentioned that we wanted to do a kayak trip down the river and he jumped right in and said he would shuttle us. Sunday morning we went to church with Keith and afterward he used his truck to load our kayak etc. and helped get us in the river. It was a great 13 mile trip that never would have happened without his knowledge of the area and his commitment to his guests. We have stayed at many HH/Boondockers Welcome and this visit was exceptional. Thank you Keith !

The only noise was sound of nature. Plenty of room to park and turn my fithwheel camper and dually around. Brisket from local bar was fantastic. Host was top notch. Helpful and very accommodating.

We really hesitate to write a review for Country Oasis only because it's so hard to decide how to begin and where to end! Keith and Melissa are absolutely, hands down, the most wonderful and welcoming HH/BW hosts that we've had the pleasure to sit-a-spell with. They are masters of conversation and so fun to boot. This was our second stay and so, according to Keith, we are now "two-timers"! :) Hopefully not for long though. We're gonna try to be "three-timers" as soon as we can. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy Keith's fabulous new outdoor fire place addition (it was just way to hot and humid that night - but next stay for sure), so we just enjoyed our conversation on and watching birds (so many bird feeders) from their comfortable deck. Then when a storm blew in, they so graciously invited us into their beautiful home to weather it out. I'm still having a hard time to end this review, but I've gone on too long now already. However, a stay at Country Oasis should definitely be added to the bucket list of anyone looking for a memorable experience just a short 1/2-hour drive north of Grand Rapids.
