OUT OF TOWN...no hosting until April. Sorry. We have a 1 acre flat lot with a circa 1853 farmhouse. The site is in full sun. No fires are allowed. Its Baseball/Softball season and the municiple park behind us can be busy. The camping spot is next to a creek and the park has a walking trail and playground. Our lot is NOT private, it’s in an active neighborhood with people walking, hanging out and driving on 3 sides of the property. Dogs are allowed in the park. In the evening it is pleasant and mostly quiet. At night there is some truck noise from the highway on the other side of the park. Most annoying are the tractor trailer air brakes (which they are not suppose to be using close to residential area in a 45 mph zone). Suggested Local Attractions: You can walk thru the park to a great local diner. Also nearby Premise Maid Candy and Ice Cream, the name kind of says it all. There is almost always a line, outside seating is available and prices are reasonable. We have brewery's and winery's within 3 miles. In the area is Dorney Park with wonderful roller coasters, rides and a water park. Just 1 mile down the road is a world class Velodrome Bicycle racing stadium (Friday night races!), Macungie hosts amazing auto shows (Das Awkt Fescht is the biggest), Bethlehem Musikfest, Kutztown Folk Festival to name a few events. There is a covered bridge tour available on the internet. The covered bridges are within 30 minutes but the tour meanders thru the countryside and takes a few hours. Major retail shopping and laundry within 3 miles.

House Rules

$5 for electricity 110v 20amp circuit Quiet time after 10pm (Please, no guests or entertaining after 10pm) Garbage can be left in my trash can No shows will be reported. Cell phone number must be provided prior to my acceptance of your reservation. Why? The creek can flood (and can flash flood). At the worst, we have had 4 feet of water in the parking area. It happens when the ground conditions are extremely dry, frozen or super saturated and it there is a great deal of rain in a short period of time. These conditions lead to rain running into the creek rather than being absorbed by the ground. The creek rises above its banks flooding surrounding areas. I mention this out of an abundance of caution. It is important that I have your cell phone number because of this. National Weather Service broadcast flood alerts/warnings a day or two in advance and updates them.

Location

Access Road Conditions: The road has no should and you cannot park on this road. Although it seems quiet, the cars speed, 50mph not uncommon. Your rig stopped, a car zooms around and a child crossing to the park could be bad.

Hi! We are campers and also host two sites here on BW/HH. My wife is a member of two camping groups and often travels solo. We also use HipCamp (private property camping). We aren't into the campground experience. Activities like kayak camping, backpacking and Scouting, as kids and again as parents, taught us to travel light (and drilled into us the principles of Leave No Trace and leave-a-site-better-than-you-found-it). Our rig is a truck camper and it is tight quartersf but lets us get out there off-road and off-grid. It is in California at the present. Beth hopes to head to Alaska in 2023 with Greg flying in for a week each month doing remote work-from-home. We can’t wait to see what happens next and hope to see you out there!

Unfortunately we had an unexpected route change and needed to cancel our stay with Beth. I still want to leave a review and let people know that she responded quickly to me, approved our stay and gave good directions and information. Perhaps this stop will work for us in the future!

We checked in with our very congenial host who allowed us to use her electric and offered water if we wanted for a very minimal cost.. The area is gorgeous and easily accessible. Access to a public park is immediately behind the property. Highly recommend!!
