We are located 10 miles away from Lake Superior near the town of Finland, MN. We are on 30 acres of woods that back up to the Baptism River. We have about a miles worth of walking trails as well as some pastures with a few horses. We have several State Parks close by ( some that are only minutes away!) that offer hiking, waterfalls, fishing and just plan gorgeous vistas! We also are lucky to have hundreds of miles of both snowmobiling & ATV trails right from our driveway! Our site is at our barn. It’s a level gravel spot with a view of woods and pasture. Please note that the site will be in full sun all day. Suggested Local Attractions:Tettegouche State Park, Temperance State Park, Cascade State Park, Lutsen Ski area, Palisade Overlook, Black Beach, Trestle Inn, the Gitchi- Gami Bike Trail and the BWCAW. Can’t forget about all the beautiful waterfalls!

My spouse (Elaine) & I (Sandy) enjoy meeting others that have a love of nature & travel! We are open to "chatting " if you are. Would love to fill you in on any & all things "North Shore!" All we ask is that you respect our home by practicing "leave no trace" camping.
Location
Access Road Conditions: Gravel driveway with trees. Once you turn into the drive, take your first right. You'll come to a barn with a gravel parking lot. Pick your spot! Please don’t block the barn door! Shorter rigs can do a turn around. Longer rigs will require backing up a short distance in to the site. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Next to rig.

Easy going, love nature Details: We luv living in the woods and enjoy sharing our little piece of heaven with others. Home Town: Finland, MN Favorite Boondocking Locations: Haven't been out yet, but looking forward to giving it a try. Skills or Expertise to Share: Pretty handy and have a good selection of toys & tools! Very knowledgeable of local sites & What's going on in the area.

What an amazing experience with these hosts! Sandy and Elaine are so generous to open up their silce of heaven to strangers like us, but then we left as friends. We enjoyed sharing traveling stories. Effie (the dog) sure does live in a paradise here! Would love to return again!

Great location, grounds and hosts. Stayed during Fall color with the 1st snow on departure day. Elaine and Sandy are great ladies and we will return one day to visit again.

Enjoyed another great stay at Effie's. This was our second time here. We like to stay here and take in what the area has to offer. Elaine and Sandy are wonderful hosts that know alot of the highlights and places to go in the area.

Elaine and Sandy were wonderful. The North Shore was really busy, but you wouldn't know it staying at Effies Paradise We were to busy hiking all day, but Elaine and Sandy both made it a point to check in with us. They even offered to have a beverage of choice with them Great location!!!

Enjoyed our overnight stay at Effie’s. Site was quiet and plenty of room to maneuver. Sandy and Elaine were terrific hosts and we enjoyed cocktails on their deck. We would definitely stay again!
