I am the UNofficial Mayor of Egnar Colorado. Details: We are a retired couple living in far western Colorado during the Summer months, and southern Arizona during the Winters. Our little unincorporated community is known as Egnar or Range spelled backwards. The people who live in this area are affectionally known as Egnarts, you can take the time to spell it backwards. I was designated UNofficial Mayor of Egnar by a local farmer just prior to his death in a auto/tractor accident. The name has stuck with me. We are Low drama, friendly and accommodating, our chief complaint is: No one wants to leave. Susan is more than willing to have an afternoon beer or toddy with friends. I quit drinking 30 years ago, but may share a home grown cookie with anyone who's 420 friendly. We are non smoking and non vaping individuals. Home Town: We live on 320 acres, of which 115 acres are in organic wheat production. At anytime during the week you may see Elk, Deer, Bears, Mountain Lions, Fox, Bobcats, and myriads of birds. The main road, H1, is good black top. Our 450 foot driveway is new gravel and not bad at all. We've had 45 foot rigs park in front of the house, so no worries about access. There are currently three 30 amp plugins available, one has full hookups, but is harder to reach as it requires your rig to be backed up a small hill; Low clearance vehicles will not fit. Our home is a 4,000 sqft, story and a half metal building, which was designed and built by US over the course of 15 years. The House and Greenhouse were designed for this latitude on the Planet, N 37° 54' 40". Currently, we are grid tied. There are 28 solar panels on the shop roof, which supply all of our annual power needs. We followed the LEED certification guidelines and built a super insulated, direct passive solar, geothermally heated, ZERO Energy home. Since moving in full time, back in 2014, we have not had a power bill. I'm working on backup batteries and a generator. Egnar is somewhat centrally located between Mesa Verde National Park 60 miles to the SE, and the National Parks of Moab, Utah 65 miles to the North. Fun fact: We live in San Miguel County an area of 1288 square miles. Dolores County, to the south, covers 1068 square miles. A combined total area of 2356 square miles. Neither county has a traffic signal. Imagine that. Favorite Boondocking Locations: Camp Trump, Ogilby, California. The Goose Necks State Park, Utah. Hatchet Resort, Hatchet, Wyoming. Skills or Expertise to Share: We have a welder and a decent shop to work out of, but don't expect my personal expertise to cover RV repairs. Verizon is good and solid, AT&T is sketchy, the rest may not get a signal.

Walter and Susan are the most wonderful people that I have meet along my travels. Excellent directions, circle driveway, they are located in a very remote area but it's beautiful and quiet. Easy hookup to 30 amp power, awesome views. It was the total experience beyond belief. My only regret was my husband wasn't there with me to learn about their unique house. They are both interesting people and I learned things while staying. If you on the fence about whether to drive a little out of your way.....go for it! You will not regret it.

Walter and Susan are gracious hosts. After setting us up with water and 30A, we visited with them on their patio. Then they gave us a tour of their beautiful home. This will be a stop for me anytime I’m traveling in that area.

The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. Eddie and I had a really good time on their property. The Hosts fell in love with Eddie and I was wondering if I was going to be able to take him with me. They really enjoyed spending time with Eddie and he loved being with them. We really appreciate them letting us stay on their property. Thank you again Eddie
