We just received our first negative from Blanch 2019 - Sorry we did not respond intake but we are. very disappointed about this review. We are running a business that allows us to host people traveling using. Harvest host at no charge. Based on this review I cancelled the property to Harvest host for the entire summer and fall- Thanks Blanch! We are 12 miles from French lick- we are in the state forest Amenities depend on if my ranch is rented to a group or not- if it’s not being used you have access to a very cool place with lots to do - but when it’s rented by paying guests we only give you access to the camp area 1. Dogs on a leash if I have paying guests that have the place rented 2. Not all spots have power We have a gym- serious god gym , 9 hole golf course, axe throwing, brick pizza oven, bbq grill, wood smokers, fishing pond, trails, shooting range, clay pigeons, large vineyard, bourbon tasting barn, martial arts gym- think of a giant man cave that’s a ranch During the week we generally have few paying guests - it’s then you would have access to the fun stuff Suggested Local Attractions:All of French lick is very nice, bands, bars, #1&2 golf courses in Indiana- and ours the worst golf course in Indiana - casino etc

Location

Access Road Conditions: The road getting to the ranch is very narrow- however - I’ve seen two RVs pass going opposite direction so it’s not as narrow as it feels - it is paved the entire road Once on the ranch - Getting to the parking area is pretty simple - it is a single lane for a 1000 meters gravel road and you will need directions from someone once you get there Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Park in the field or next to your rig

We have a farm and a quiet space Details: FIRST REQUEST Too many Boon dockers have been showing up late. This causes us to either get out of bed and park you or it takes us away from our paying guests ($1000.00 per night) We allow boon dockers to help people and families travel with less expenses. We like to help fellow travelers but this late arrivals has gotten out of hand. If you can not arrive before 4:00 pm you are not welcome here. we simply are too busy giving hay rides, checking in guests or cooking for private parties. We hope you understand but after this last late Boondocker I was ready to discontinue being a host. Im just too busy! MORE We are more of a place for travelers with children to stop for a free overnight or two but not a place to entertain children ADULTS who may want to stop for a few days or a week and are more private are welcome for longer stays. Most of our guests we meet at check in and don't see after that unless they are interested in some farm or construction project we may have going on TRAVEL BUDDIES If you are traveling with another family (Two RV's) let me know. We generally only accept one boondocks request at a time but if we know you are traveling with another family we will make room for your friends. But if they send a separate request to us, then we will reject it as we do not realize that you are traveling together. Jut put how many rigs you have please so we can accommodate you both. We are a Married couple 30 plus years I work overseas part-time as a pilot in Africa and Afghanistan my wife is a yoga teacher. We will offer Rv stays while I’m home and see how this program go’s. When I am on the ranch I have lots of construction projects, We like to work hard and drink some wine. We have a large vineyard and a very unique ranch. We are interested in the RV lifestyle and are happy to meet those of you are living this way full time. We have owned a 5th wheel in the past and a small travel trailer If you have an interest in getting your hands dirty this is a fun place. - If we have time, we own and manage many small businesses and are often busy. We also have paying guests on site (OFTEN) which means most of our activities are not available to you as a boon docker If you are on vacation and need a place to stop for a night we don’t expect you to volunteer to give us a hand- but if this is your lifestyle living and traveling in your RV then it might be kind of you to offer some help -we may or may not need any help at the particular time. If you wish to make a donation we may put a jar somewhere- we gotta see how this go’s and see if it’s drama free Home Town: HIM: Portland and Eastern Oregon HER: Indiana- St Louis Favorite Boondocking Locations: Bonny crossing - near Tygy Valley Oregon Skills or Expertise to Share: Video, drone work, carpentry, landscaping, axe throwing, shooting sports, fishing pond on the ranch. Let me start off by saying that my life has always been one of taking care of other people. Being a US Navy Field Medical Corpsman I was responsible for the health and well-being of the US Navy and US Marines under my care both on and off the battlefields along with pretty much every other person in my life as well since the dawn of time while traveling all over the world and needless to say I needed a break. I had never used Harvest Host or Boondockers Welcome before and Elk Ridge Ranch was my very first place I ever contacted for a stay and boy was I not only pleasantly suprised I was downright impressed. Not only was it a beautiful place with its rolling hills and gorgeous foliage that was bursting with vibrant colors at the change over into the fall season but the sunset overlooking the lake where I had parked was a great spot where I could also see at least 3 of the holes of the 9 hole Frisbee Golf Course they have on-site which also includes a huge banquet facility for hosting weddings which there was one going on while I was there to any kind of event you could imagine. They also have 4 beautiful cabins you can rent as well that are furnished better than my house. Lol. They also have a place on the property called " The Pizza Barn " and its true to its name. Its actually an old barn being converted into a real life Pizza Restaurant / Bar with everything you'd expect in a high end establishment out in civilization except this one has a area for throwing Axes. Yes I said you can throw a real life Axe inside the place but only after a few lessons and under the watchful eye of one of the owners. True to form Elk Ridge Ranch is just that, it is a actual working Elk Ranch where they breed and raise Elk. These are beautiful majestic creatures that if you've never seen one in person you for sure need to get up close and personal sometime. Now for the most important part of my review. The owners. My hosts. First off I got on the App and booked myself in for a 3 day stay which these guys are beyond gracious enough to actually allow up to a 5 day stay in some cases if the place is not too busy with paying guests which is almost unheard of especially with a place as nice as this one is and please do me and yourselves a favor and if you're lucky enough to be invited to stay absolutely offer to help around the property while you're there doing some kind of work to make the place even better than it already is. Believe me when I say that in doing so not only will it raise your standing in the eyes of the owners it will truly give you the feeling that you are part of the place itself and that will make your stay even better. Anyways I tend to ramble. Ok where was I. Oh yes my hosts. What can I say about Wendy & Dave. When I first arrived a lady was weed eating around the front entrance and told me to drive up and around a hill to park by the main barn which turned out to be the " Pizza Barn " where I got out of my Van and stretched my legs from my long journey. After about 5 minutes 2 lovely blonde ladies came walking down the hill towards me one tall the other not so much. They both looked me over top to bottom as we talked sizing me up for a minute then we all broke out in big smiles shook hands, showed me where to park and started shooting the breeze. Wendy the owner a bright spirit surrounded by a yellow / green aura and the shorter of the two and Yvette her close friend and fellow Boondocker having a blue aura with a hint of green that came there just like myself last year and stayed for a little while and her and Wendy really hit it off. Yvette and her husband Steve who himself is one of the most nice and friendly people you'll ever meet then took off and traveled around the country and when big projects came up at the ranch they got a call and like good folks do came back to lend a hand because that's what truly makes life grand. Those two kids will be hitting the road again in December on yet another adventure and im sure they shall return again soon. Wonderful people. Wendy one of the owners and hosts absolutely could not have been more gracious, helpful and considerate on every level from letting me know I was welcome to plug in to their power grid to giving access to one of the awesome cabins nearby in case I wanted to use the restroom or even take a shower. One beautiful human indeed. Now for the other owner Dave. Now thats another story all together. HA HA HA Just playin buddy and you know that but had to get one in before I flatter you and swell that already big head of yours. Lol. Dave is something else. One of the best guys you'll ever come across especially in a situation / environment such as this. Dave is the person who is dealing with all the people using the Harvest Host / Boondockers App so if you're inquiring about staying here its this guy you're talking to so be on your best behavior. I arrived a day later than I was hoping to due to unforseen things but that wasn't a problem for Dave but regardless try and be on date and time. Being the hard working guy he is I didn't get to meet him until the sun was going down since he and Steve were out on the back 40 doing some fence work. They pulled up just as the sun was setting with Yvette in tow along with their cool little dog and I hope he doesn't get mad at me if I forgot his name but " Peetie " ? sitting on Daves lap and invited me down to the " Pizza Barn " for a cold beer and of course I happily said yes. So I joined them all along with another boondocking couple that had pulled in right before me that I had given one if my extension cords to so they could hook up to the electric and we preceeded to drink beers and then do shots of bourbon as well that Dave so graciously provided and to top it all off Dave went down into the kitchen and prepared not one but two homemade pizzas for us all to enjoy and they were quite tasty indeed. So to bring this long winded review to a close there is no other place or for sure people that I can think of that I could recommend higher than this place and these fine folks and not only should you stop by when you're on the road traveling but for sure if you want a place to host any type of events like Weddings. Bar Mitzvahs. Graduations. Birthdays. Literally anything you need to call these guys. Wendy. Dave. Thank you both very much from the bottom of my heart and I hope to see you guys again soon. LOVE & LIGHT. 2023 Starship Cruiser ( Tony Skinner )

Gorgeous property in southern Indiana. Host was friendly and accomodating and communicated well. Lots to do on the expansive property but also nearby the Hoosier National Forest and the cities of French Lick and Bloomington. Very quiet and peaceful especially at night. I laid down on a grassy hill one warm night with my two dogs and watched the stars. Highly recommend checking it out if in the area!
