We are located on a farm 13 miles from Hastings or 2 miles from Ayr. We are also one mile from crystal Lake recreation area. You will need to back in for the electric hook up. It’s a grassy area. If we’ve just had a heavy rain 30 amp would not be available without a 75 ft cord. If it’s dry a regular camper cord works fine. A 20 amp is available in the garage if you’re parking in driveway. Suggested Local Attractions:Ball park in Hastings Ne. Hastings Museum Crystal Lake

House Rules

Please use an ashtray if you’re a smoker. Do not leave butts on the ground. You may use fire pit if it’s not dry weather. Rambo, our German Shepard, is one friendly dog and is not aggressive. Do not open gate to backyard as we do not want Rambo in the front yard. He tends to run away if he gets bored. Pets welcome as long as you pick up after them. Thank you.

farm life near Hastings Ne. Details: My husband, David and I live on a farm near Ayr, NE. We are retired and also like camping in our fifth wheel. I like to spend free time quilting, and David likes to help our sons with the farming operation. We are also busy baby sitting grandchildren from time to time. Home Town: We live two and a half miles outside of Ayr, NE. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We loved Utah along the river and go to many state and national parks but have not stayed at a Boondocker location. We have hosted many folks at our farm. Skills or Expertise to Share: David worked many winters at his brothers cabinet shop on Hastings, NE. I have worked in many elderly people’s homes helping them out and with the school system or baby sitting mentally challenged children. I also worked five years cooking for a family in Hastings. We’ve raised five children.

Oh what a great night sleep after a long day drive. Very quiet and peaceful place. Our hosts were very welcoming. We would come back anytime! Thanks to David and Vicky.

It's always an adventure traveling to Wisconsin to see my grandkids for spring break, and challenging to find a place available off season. This was a ownderful stay as I avoided a series of storms. Easy access, level, electric hook up, and super kind and friendly hosts. Too cold and windy for a long visit, but a safe and comfortable stay.

This was our 2nd stay with Dave & Vickie, and just as wonderful as the first. Certainly one of our very favorite boondocker stops. These hosts are the nicest folks you could meet. Warm, engaging, and fun to hang out with. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Convenient parking is provided along with an electric hookup, and water nearby. We only wish we lived right next to these folks as they are so delightful. Thanks again for such a great boondocking experience.

Dave and Vickie are wonderful hosts, and even better people. Warm and engaging, we only wish we could have spent more time with them. The farmland is beautiful and secluded. A wide open spot to park with an electric hookup, and close proximity to water was a real convenience. The sizable city of Hastings is only about 10 minutes away and large enough to get supplies, with many food choices. We would love the opportunity to stay here again and spend more time getting to know these fantastic folks. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful property.
