Our home is on a main road in Fort Kent, Maine is in town limits & backs up to the Fish River, This long winding, clean river runs south to north here, connects up about 1/2 mile north, with the St John’s River, which is shared with the USA & Canada. Many tubers, kayaks, canoes & rafters take the run south of us to points in town where you can get out of the river. It has very gentile small rapids, appropriate for all skill levels. Best of all, our property goes right down to the river so access in & out is easy for us. And the views, words can not adequately describe how bucolic & beautiful it is. Ps. The night sky’s are magnificent, especially during Aurora Borealis season. PSs. Dump station in town for a $10 fee. Suggested Local Attractions:Boating, sky/star gazing, fall leaf watching, touring around with great mountain & farm vistas, antiquing, biking, licensed hunting & fishing, many wonderful lakes nearby, many atv trails, guided tours, hiking, camping, winter skiing & snowmobiling, etc. Very nice civilized smallish town life with many amenities like grocery, brewery, restaurants, gas, banks, Walgreens, small shops, etc etc etc….

Difficulty locating the host. Due to rain and road construction, I did not have access to the river Parked in the driveway next to the house. Not recommended until road construction is completed. Check with host.

We stayed one night as planned. The hosts were good at communicating, kind and thoughtful. We did not take advantage of sitting by the river as bugs love me. We parked on the driveway which was easy and level. I did not give 5 stars as we were close to a major road. During the day there was a lot of traffic but it was not a problem at night. If you visit check out Fort Kent Outdoor Center. Thanks to the hosts.

Had a lovely time staying with CidniR. They were very accommodating even though I ended up getting there after dark and set me up with electric and water and Wi-Fi. It was a wonderful oasis in the middle of my trip just coming back over the border from Canada. The river that runs in their backyard is a beautiful peaceful place to be. This couple is very hospitable and I enjoyed our conversation. Highly recommend.
