Our site is at the top of a pass and has complete privacy from the main road. The views are breathtaking. Shops are about four miles away but getting there with a cumbersome vehicle is a hassle. We share our road with two neighbors and there is a small amount of local traffic. Basically guests would use the gravel parking area in front of my barn and hook up to utility power with an extension cord. I have plenty of rainwater to share but it is not potable. HEIGHT RESTRICTION: no vehicles above 11 feet 6 inches tall. Suggested Local Attractions: Asheville and the Biltmore Estate is 30 minutes away. The Great Smokey Mountains National Park is about an hour’s drive away.

House Rules

We are fairly laid back about rules but insist on leaving things the way you found them. Because we have dogs and they run free, our place is NOT for people who are afraid of dogs or do not have control of their pets. Our dogs are well trained and well behaved, but this is their home.

Location

Access Road Conditions: We are at the top of a pass and access roads are steep with tight turns. My driveway is long, narrow and has a gravel surface. Backing down it would be “interesting”. I would discourage very tall rigs and am basing my description on my own truck and camper set-up. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: The tow vehicle should be the size of a 1 ton pick-up or less. Parking is next to the trailer. Both vehicles would be in front of my barn and pull out radius is tight. There are low hanging limbs over the road so Class A RVs cannot be accommodated. Sorry.

Sometimes you are lucky enough to meet people who change who you are. Talitha and Louis are the most gracious, considerate, and welcoming hosts we have ever had during our Boondocking experiences. I encourage you to stay here to learn a little bit more about what a wonderful life looks like. Views are spectacular, but the real reason to stay is to meet them. Sharing stories has been the highlight of our trip thus far. Of note - it is a steep drive up and make sure you check with Louis whether you can make the turn on your way out. Because it is at very high elevation the wind can be fierce but the shed provides a wonderful wind break. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay. Hope to see you soon in Canada!

A wonderful host, met us at the gate and helped get us settled. Very private, great to have roof as it was rainy when we arrived. we woke to find we were above the clouds after a rainy evening. Wonderful host, private and quiet- protected from the elements.

This location is quiet and remote. Spend some time relaxing and listening to nature. Spent some time in Asheville touring and taking in the beautiful mountain views! The road is steep and curvey! Drive safe!
