If you’re looking for a dose of the “high plains”, this could be it. Gracious hosts, greeted us and helped get us set up. We had no cell signal or internet, so be ready for that, I said it was quiet

Thanks Lavonne and Steve! Stay was perfect for me and my pup. You were so accommodating with my ever changing arrival time due to a tire problem I had before I had even left home.and Steve was so good to let me use his extension cord; the next day I found I did have with me! Went sound to sleep with the cattle lowing in the distance and awoke to see a small herd grazing on the western horizon with mighty Pikes Peak in the background and a frisky herd of pronghorns too. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful high plains and despite your suggested route I allowed my GPS to take me the really scenic route!! PS my GPS did stay connected that whole way☺️

Such a peaceful place to stay, easy 50 minute drive to everything. There is no Verizon service out there so plan you trips before getting there. The owners are great.

Steve and LaVonne are wonderful hosts. We invited them to our motorhome on our first night and we had a great visit. We learned that Steve is a certified RV Tech and we ended up having him attend to a couple of issues that we were having with our coach. He ended up ordering parts and inviting us back for another visit when the parts arrived (they even offered to let us have some other things shipped to their address since we are full-timers). We are very happy with Steve's work. As far as the location, their home is about 30 minutes east of Colorado Springs with a great view of Pikes Peak and is very level and roomy enough for a number of large RVs (there were 3 one evening and was room for at least that many more). The sunrises and sunsets are pretty spectacular too. Be aware that there was no cell service with Verizon. Great stays.

We stayed a couple nights, the plains go on forever, and it is one of the quietest places we have been. Hosts and other campers were nice, and will accommodate the biggest rigs. We checked out the paint mines, quite nice. There are pronghorns and a prairie dog town nearby also!
