We have been campers for over 35 years. We are both now retired & we have been enjoying traveling in our Class A Bounder. We have experienced what it's been like the past 3 yrs trying to find a campground site for even overnight, so we would like to offer a safe spot here for fellow campers. We are blessed to own 65 acres of beautiful land in southern Ohio. It's a rural area, not a lot of touristy things around to see or do, but it's our little bit of heaven on earth. On our property, we have a small lake, a little river running behind us & lots of woods. You can hike, kayak or fish. Since we have room for 2 or more rigs, we can do a buddy site with request. If the calendar is blocked, contact us & we might still be able to accommodate your request. **PLEASE NOTE: ** We will not respond to requests without a completed profile, including pictures, as required by BW.

House Rules

We will consider dogs on an individual basis. Please contact us regarding bringing your pet. No aggressive dogs permitted & all must be up to date on shots & of course, kept on a leash & picked up after. Generators are fine. We do have water if you want to fill your tank. A fire pit & picnic table is available on request. If you smoke, please dispose of butts in your own unit, not on the ground! No drunkenness or partying. We enjoy meeting & interacting with fellow campers. However, if you prefer solitude, we certainly will respect that after getting you parked.

Location

There is room for any length of rig & tow vehicle to be parked & plenty of turnaround room. However, the entrance into our property is a tight turn & it's a narrow lane back to our place. Therefore, you must be good at maneuvering your rig! We get our 36 ft MH & toad through just fine. There are overhanging limbs & brush along the lane that we keep trimmed but it still requires being alert. There is plenty of room for slides & awnings. It is a gravel base with grass site.

We've been camping for over 35 yrs. & have made many memories with our 4 kids as they were growing up. Now that we're retired, we've bought a Class A & are enjoying this stage of our life. We've been married for 45 yrs & hope to spend a few years traveling while we still have our health. We enjoy the beach, the mountains, visiting historical sites & good food! We have both lived in southern Ohio all of our lives. We recently joined BW as a host to share a little piece of our "Hillbilly Heaven" when we're not traveling.

what a fantastic place to stay. Hosts Dave and Cindy feel like family and we have only been here 2 hours! So thankful we came here.

Our stay at Dave and Cindy’s beautiful property has been one of our best experiences yet with Harvest Hosts. Hillbilly Heaven is about 15 minutes away from Portsmouth on the Ohio River where we enjoyed walking through the historic and beautiful old downtown with eclectic shops and the oldest brewery in the state. Finding Hillybilly Heaven off the pretty country road outside of town was easy, especially as Cindy tied a balloon on the mailbox right before their driveway. The property is 65 acres of lovely forest that the hosts have preserved and mindfully cleared in areas that resemble a lovely park. Plenty of level grassy or graveled areas to choose from for our 25 ft class A. Dave greeted us on his Gator when we arrived and invited us to tour the amazing house he and Cindy built from the bones of a historic barn…. simply beautiful! Afterwards, we took a wooded path to the peaceful little lake their house overlooks. There’s a nice bench there to watch ducks and listen to the birds. Our little terrier enjoyed romping around the paths and woods as well. Our hosts were so welcoming and friendly. They even invited us to join them for the supper they’d prepared for a church gathering at the house! Truly fantastic people. I wouldn’t call them hillbillys, but this place was indeed a piece of heaven.

We had the most wonderful time during our stay at Hillbilly Heaven - and heaven it was! Our hosts were so welcoming and went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. They shared the history of their area and suggested sites to see. We had a lot in common with them and now consider them our friends.
