When traveling, we very much enjoy meeting people local to wherever we travel to, as opposed to frequenting the all the typical tourist attractions. Although not currently traveling, our reason for staying with Boondockers is to host others with the same goals in travel, and we have had many amazing guests! The application we joined over 10 years ago (Boondockers Welcome) has sadly changed since the buy-out and merging with harvesthosts. Please, and I'm truly sorry a number of guests have necessitated me adding this, but if you are a glamdocker, please let me save both you and I much trouble and just don't come. You may have paid for a "free camping service" but Hosts receive no renumeration for this. Our home is open to all guests, but if, for example, you wander uninvited into our back yard and decide you don't like what you see, and wear it on your sleeve as you decide to leave (then submit a legally slanderous review online), well do the math, my friend. That said, folks are generally more than welcome to wander into my back yard. Just remember, you'll find long grass and dirt, rough ground and trees. This Is Boondockers Welcome!

I wanted to come and stay but it never got approved until 9:00pm the day of so I had to make other arrangements. He clearly indicated this ,that he was not able to respond sometimes so I took a chance trying to reserve but it didn’t work out. No problem.

Enjoyed our two nights at Steve’s rural property. we were met at the gate and shown our spot for our stay. Would definitely return next time we are in the area.

I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely visit again next year when I travel through. The hosts were very attentive and welcoming. I loved being away from it all and found that there is so much to explore in the area if you want to venture out. Being so close to Whistler was amazing and I did get up there a few times during my stay. Even got to bungee jump in Whistler which was always on my bucket list. Disregard the negative review from 'TOPFLIGHT76'. Folks like that show up all 'entitled'. They figure since they paid for HH membership, they should get the 'Ritz' treatment. In my opinion, the boondock site profile was accurate and if you are expecting the 'Ritz' accommodation, then you need to look for those types of accommodations. I loved the locations tucked away like it is and I highly recommend this spot away from it all, if that's what you are looking for.

When we arrived the host met us at the gate. I walked around with him and the first thing that struck me was multiple junked autos, and a trashed fifth wheel RV. Then the over grown grass, where the host wanted us to park. My wife has mobility problems. This would have created a falling risk for her. The host also would have had to cut down a tree for us to back into the location. All said, we had to decline staying there. To top it off, the host cussed at us as we pulled away.
