Please do not inquiry about dates that are not available on the calendar. Located on the south shore of Nova Scotia approx 10 mins from the historic town of Shelburne, NS. We have a beautiful waterfront property located approx 6 kms down the west side of the gorgeous Shelburne Harbour, just north of Gunning Cove and facing the Sandy Point Lighthouse to our east. You are welcome to sit and enjoy our views from our private 90 ft wharf (a walk of approx 200' from your overnight spot). The water is mostly deep and calm with a predictable daytime breeze. Most days you will be able to spot our resident mammal friends, Seal-ine Dion and Sealy-Dan along with great blue herons, king fishers and many ducky friends. If you are lucky the porpoises may be feeding in our area too. Shelburne Harbour is very deep and thus many large vessels from the Canadian Coast Guard or large fishing trawlers can be observed. We personally do not swim off our shore but jumping off the wharf is a longtime tradition held by many of the locals...lol If you would rather wade in or kayak, the water is accessible at the wharf. For swimming, we prefer the beautiful white sand beach only 9kms further along the Lighthouse route where you might be the only one on it! This is a new home for us and we are still discovering much of the province. What we know for sure is that the area is beautiful, quiet and welcoming. We hope we can add to your experience as you discover the true south shore of Nova Scotia. We are approx 2.5 hrs southwest of Halifax and 1.5 hrs southwest of Lunenburg, the home of the Bluenose II. Your overnight parking spot is grass and gravel, mostly level and not shaded. You will have many surrounding trees, berry bushes and flowering plants. You are welcome to enjoy the views and waterfront from our wharf or wander the acreage. Most mornings are clear but we do get occasional fog that clears with the sunshine. We have a family of deer (5) that may occasionally graze on the property. Inquire if you have a well behaved pet. Suggested Local Attractions:Historic town of Shelburne, NS including Dock Street and the many colorful buildings along the HarbourFront. Visit the Yacht club and marina. Visit the Sandy Point Lighthouse a few miles along the eastern shore. Eat at Mr. Fish for casual or make reservations at Charlotte Lane (they come from far away to eat here). Farmers market on Sundays at noon. Local Boxing Rock Brewery. Visit Roseway Beach. Visit Black Loyalists Heritage Center. Visit The Islands Prov Park. Further along the Lighthouse Route, visit nearby Barrington Passage and the Seal Island Lighthouse Museum and Clarks Harbour.

Location

Access Road Conditions: From the main paved road the exit is an approx 400 ft drive on a well packed and travelled gravel road. Our driveway entrance is straight ahead from the road exit. The driveway is private and approx 100ft of hard pack grass and gravel that you can drive straight into. There is a Y intersection that allows you to turn around or backout. Best suited for truck campers and Class B RV's. Unfortunately, it is too difficult for tow behind travel trailers or 5th wheel trailers greater than 25 ft combined to turn around in the space. Please refer to the posted restriction of 25 ft or less.

Retired Canadian Military Couple Flees South for Winter! Details: Retired and in our early 60's, we are both former Air Traffic Control Officers with the Canadian military. We have travelled quite extensively in Canada and have lived abroad in Germany and also in the Pacific NorthWest near Tacoma WA. We recently retired to the south shore of Nova Scotia and are enjoying oceanside living in a classic east coast home. We look forward to welcoming BW guests to our lovely Shelburne Harbour location during the Spring, Summer and Fall months. We flee south to Chokoloskee Island Fla for the winter months with our 2019 Vintage trailer. Our favorite activities are walking, bicycling, boating and kayaking. You will find us always outdoors whether at home or on the road. We enjoy meeting new people and enjoy patio chats with an afternoon cocktail but are also content to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Cheers! Home Town: Shelburne, Nova Scotia Favorite Boondocking Locations: Gulf shore beaches, Skills or Expertise to Share: former Roadtrek owners

Literally! I stayed with Sealy Dan and Seal-ine Dion during hurricane Fiona. I could not have landed in a better place. Not only was the location and views (which I finally saw when the hurricane past), spectacular, so were the hosts. I felt like I had known them for awhile upon our meeting. My gratitude for their hospitality will never be forgotten. Hope you get to share time with them.
