Location

This is a secure and private tent or recreational vehicle camping site with easy access to both Saguaro National Park and Ironwood Forest National Monument. Site size is ~45ft. long x 20ft wide, flat, level and graveled. There is additional space for a tow vehicle, if needed. A 12' x 10' covered pavilion, fire ring, picnic table and recycle bin are provided. There is good cell phone reception on all carriers. Potable water, a sewer dump station, an outdoor kitchen, and a modern outhouse with flushing toilet, sink and hot showers are available on the property for an additional daily fee of $28. The property is easily accessed on a maintained dirt road that RV's under 40 feet can drive on. If you need to check-in after 6pm please message the host before 6pm to ensure you get access to the property. Convenience items like gas, food, ice, and propane can be purchased at the Family Dollar, Dollar General, Speedway, and convenience store located in Picture Rocks which is approximately 8 miles from the property. Downtown Tucson is only 30 minutes away if you feel the need to return to civilization. The property has potable water on site and a sewer dump for your recreational vehicle holding tanks. You must bring your own electrical power source, if needed. We use 100% solar on the property to provide for our power needs and appreciate campers who do as well, although generators are allowed. A trash bin is provided at your camp site. Composting for vegetable scraps is available on site. Farm fresh organic eggs ($6/dzn) and firewood ($7/bdl) are available from the camp host. The 15 acres are fenced and gated to keep the free range cattle off the property. There are goats on the property that are accompanied by a LGD shepherd. Please don't let your pet(s) engage/interfere with the LGD shepherd. A camp host will be on site and available for questions if needed, but will leave you to your own enjoyment.

Iron Quail Ranch is a modern homestead and breeder of 100% New Zealand Kiko goats. The ranch lays in the center of Avra Valley, Arizona on former farm and ranch land. Large farms were purchased by the city of Tucson in the 1990's to preserve the water rights and protect the large aquifer that runs beneath the valley. The land has gradually returned to its natural state of mesquites, ironwoods, cacti and natural grasses. The Ranch sits within a stones throw of Saguaro National Park and Ironwood Forest National Monument. Iron Quail Ranch is unique, in that, it sits mostly positioned on a riparian water shed. The abundance of water creates a unique micro ecoclimate in the desert where desert plants and desert animals cohabitate - like an oasis. Come join us at Iron Quail Ranch, where we are doing our best to positively coexist with nature while being able to enjoy our beautiful and rugged desert surroundings. Visit IronQuailRanch.com for more info.

What a gem! The campsite is private with so many special touches. covered pavilion with concrete floor and picnic table, solar patio lights, firepit with seating around it. Owner was so interesting to talk to as he explained how the ranch is self sustained. so clean and tidy. He even has a waste can at your site for your trash. Nice walking path around the property. one of the special touches was hand sanitizer and soap for your use with a welcome sign. This has been the nicest place yet we have stayed on our cross country journey

Felt like my own boondocking spot in the desert. Great evening walk. Perfect host.

Had a very relaxing stay. Mike has put in some time to make the site totally flat, included a fire pit, trash, and fascinating little lights around the table roof. If I had anything to add, directions starting from the freeway would be helpful.

Mike our host was very nice and knowledgable about the area. We would have stayed longer but he was booked. We enjoyed a quiet night, used his facilities and were on our way the next morning. Next time we will stay and do some local hiking.

Very serene secluded space. Amazing star gazing . Mike provides some amenities at a minimal price. Wish we could have stayed even longer. If we are in the Tucson area again we will choose Quail Run!!
