* Please review our house rules so we all have a wonderful time when you stay with us! What you will see: East views of Similk Bay and the neighboring Skagit, Hope and Whidbey Islands. Motorhomes and vans up to 25 feet in length are acceptable. We are NOT accepting visitors with trailers. After some frightful experiences, it is best NOT to back a trailer down the tight driveway. The driveway has a rock wall, neighbor's retaining wall, neighbors garden, and a ditch across the street that make trailer backing very difficult and trailers are likely to block our garage even with the towing vehicle detached. A mostly level 25 foot or so MAXIMUM RV spot at the end of the 100 foot or so narrow driveway beside the garden shed. You must be able to back down the driveway into the spot beside the garden shed and the neighbor's boat, as close to the shed but so your side door still opens, with the back of the RV overhanging onto the grass, so the garage doors aren't blocked. Water is available to fill tanks. 30 amp power. WiFi. Free dump stations are available in town at both Washington Park on Sunset Ave at the far west part of town and at the sewage treatment plant at 5th and T at the north end of town. Since power comes from our rooftop solar array electricity is basically free so we are not asking for any compensation or gifts during your stay. Suggested Local Attractions: Lots of stuff to see and do around here. Bike routes, kayaking, whale watching, hiking trails, etc. We're about 2 miles from Deception Pass State Park and the bridge. http://www.anacortes.org/visit.cfm for some suggestions.

Location

Access Road Conditions: Blacktopped road. Our parking area is at the bottom of the 100 foot or so driveway next to our garden shed. Please park all the way towards the water on the concrete to avoid blocking our garage doors. Access to 30 amp electrical hookup is located at the bottom of the driveway on the garden shed and a water spigot is located on the wall of the house itself.

Fellow travelers Details: We're retired and when not home, are out in our Skinnie Winnie. Both of us have been camping and RVing since we were kids. Carl: Computer performance tech, worked from home. Karen: Registered nurse. We love travel, walking, reading, kayaking, biking, and fixing things. You may hear Karen practicing Irish, Scottish and other fiddle tunes on her squeezer or piano. Let us know if you play folk music. *Please respect our desire to only accept vaccinated guests at this time* Parking is for one or two nights. Parking would be at the end of the driveway beside the garden shed where there is 30amp power and a dump available. It'll help to back in so the garage doors aren't blocked. We live in an area on a saltwater bay. There's a great neighborhood walk down Yokeko Road, a quiet lane for 1 mile with great views. Do be aware that our island is in the flight path of the Whidbey Naval Air Station and we never know exactly when the jets will be doing training flights. We're proud of our Navy neighbors, but they can occasionally be noisy! We ask that you clean up after any pets and keep your dog(s) on leash as our yard is open to our neighbors' yards. We do not expect or need any gifts or funds for staying here...we just hope you enjoy yourselves!! We have water, power, a dump, a garbage can, and WiFi available. We do like having guests, but please checkout by 12 noon. Thanks! Home Town: The actual town of Anacortes is about 12 miles to the north of our location. We're happy to talk with you about fun things to do around the area. Favorite Boondocking Locations: All over. Mostly in NW Washington state BC Canada, and the SW U.S. on BLM land, but all over, wherever we can. The last 7 years during the winter for 1-3 months we've spent wandering around in the SW parts of the US following the sun. Boondocking or dry camping is always our preferred parking/camping method most of the time if we can. Favorite places? Waterfront areas around the Pacific NW, and the mountains, rivers in BC., the quiet desert locations in the SW US. Skills or Expertise to Share: Handy with building and fixing stuff. We built a lot of this house as well as completed many modifications on our RV. Carl know lots about solar, electricity, plumbing. Karen is familiar with ebikes, gardening and folk music.

The view of the bay makes this place is gem! A tight parking space but we were warned about that on the webpage. We very thankful that we could empty our tanks, and the access to electricity. Communication was great. Minutes away from Deception Pass and a short drive to the tulip fields.

We spent Easter Sunday here. I forgot it was Easter when I booked the reservation. The host reassured us this was not a problem. When we arrived, the host came out and welcomed us, told us where to park and showed us the power hook up, informed us where we could get water if needed. The view of the Ocean from the driveway was fantastic. For our very fiirst stay with HH/BDW it couldn’t have been a better experience. This is a place for smaller RV’s, no trailers due to needing to back down the driveway and be short enough not to block their driveway. However, once parked, we were level and had access to 30 amp electric. And the view of the sound was gorgeous.

Nice property on the water in a quiet and beautiful area, close to Anacortes and Deception Pass. The place where we parked our van had a lovely view of the water. Would happily stay here again!
