About my place: We live in the mountains at 6,700 feet in elevation. We are 30 miles east of Albuquerque. We have 40 acres located literally in the middle of nowhere. They call this area the High Desert. There are few trees and lots of open range land. At night it is very quiet. On a new moon it is also very dark. If the sky is clear, and most nights are, you can see thousands of stars. Our land is not part of any city limits. We are part of Rural Santa Fe County. The nearest town to us is Edgewood, NM about 10 miles away. I told you we are in the middle of nowhere. I would ask you not arrive after sundown. There are no street lights and our place is very difficult to find in the dark. It is also very difficult to get your RV in position on my land in the dark. If you are traveling with a travel trailer you will need to back up about 400 feet around a sweeping 90 degree turn to get your RV in the correct position. One final thing if you are traveling with pets. We have a dog named Pepper. He is a mix, Border Collie, Australian Sheepdog, and Blue Heeler. He was born on May 29, 2010. He weights 72 pounds. He is very friendly with adults and children. With other dogs, he is friendly sometimes. It all depends on the dog. He is an inside and outside dog. When out side he roams free on our 40 acres. If you are traveling with a dog, we need to talk first on the phone before your stay. We have always been able to make sure all pets remain safe. Local Attractions: We are midway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe New Mexico. Both cities offer tons of historical and cultural things to see and do.

House Rules

Because we are on a well and septic tank system, we do have a few minor requests. 1. Water in the Southwest is a scarce commodity. You are welcome to hook-up your RV to our water. We would ask that guest use water in moderation. Cooking, doing dishes, toilet use, and RV showers are all acceptable usage. Using a black tank flush for 20 minutes or filling a 100+ gallon fresh water tank are not acceptable usage. 2. FYI: Our water comes from the well and goes through a number of filters, including a charcoal filter, and a water softener. This results in great tasting water but, in the shower with soap on the floor it can become very slick. Use caution if you take a shower while using our water. 3. We have an RV dump which you are welcome to use. Since the RV dump goes into our septic tank, we request you speak with us before using the RV dump. There are restrictions on what can go into the septic as well as quantity restrictions (Gallons at one time). 4. The most important rule: Enjoy!

Location

Access Road Conditions: We are 10 miles from I40 on a paved well maintained road. I get my class A 37 foot RV up and down the road with no problems. If you are coming from Santa Fe or I25 do not use a GPS. You must go through the mountains to reach us. The GPS can put you on roads you will regret, especially in a larger RV. Give me a call and we can discuss the best route. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Plenty of room to park your tow vehicle next to your RV.

Easy going, enjoy the company of others Details: I and my spouse, Herman, have been RVing since 2010. We bought our first RV because our good friends, who have RVed for 15 years kept telling us how wonderful it was. They were right! We love it. We like to take the RV and go to one of New Mexico's beautiful state parks and just relax. Spending the days hiking, reading and doing nothing. Since we are both retired. We also like to do what is called part-time/full-time travel in our RV. Often traveling three to four mounts a year in the RV. Home Town: Stanley, New Mexico Favorite Boondocking Locations: Three Rivers Recreation Area, NM It is at 6,400 feet elevation. There are 12 sites well spaced. There is a horse corrals at the top of the loop. The loop has vault toilets. The only draw back is the last 7 miles are unpaved. The road is gravel and usually in good condition. Skills or Expertise to Share: Joe retired in 2000 as a computer consultant to small business. While I can still find my way around a PC OK, time and technology have left my knowledge a little old and rusty. Since retiring I have turned into a half way decent stock market investor. I am not looking to get rich quick but, have managed to grow our investments nicely over the last 15 years. Herman retired in 2017 after 33 years with IBM. He was an Information technology consultant to Fortune 500 companies. For beginners to Rving we are happy to answer any questions. Since we started RVing in 2010 we have certainly learned from our share of RVing mistakes. If we can help or offer advice, please ask.

They have so much knowledge and traveling information. Best conversations we have had in a while. We have two kids and they loved on them so much. Made a mom’s heart feel warm. Would LOVE to stay again.

We had such a wonderful time here visiting the area. Our hosts were awesome. Beyond their incredible hospitality they were a wealth of information about the surrounding area. Even gave us an alternate route recommendation that was much safer. It was hard to leave because we enjoyed talking to them so much! The views were so vibrant and filled with bright colors. Loved it!!

Hosts were kind, knowledgeable about the area and with great sense of humor. Their place is conveniently located to Albuquerque,Santa Fe and the cute little town - Madrid. Their setup for Boondcker's is great- water electricity and sewer all easy accessible and surroundings of their place are peaceful and beautiful. Thank you ☺️

My husband and I spent two night with JoeSam and it didn’t disappoint. We were met with kindness and they made sure to show us where we could park and hook-up our RV. We spent time visiting them and they were easy to talk too and I probably talked too much..lol.. The location was exceptional with great views, awesome stars 🌟 and most of all two new friends and their awesome dog Pepper. We hope we can meet with them again one day. Sincerely, HT
