Bicycling, Kayaking, Kilt Running travellers Details: We have three adult children ... living on each of the three coasts of Canada! Mary ran her own speciality running shoe store until recently ...during which time we enjoyed organizing local running races. We have had goats we milked for several years, and chickens - although not at the current time (but who knows!). Home Town: We live in a 1850s Stone home “across the street” from the historic Perth, Ontario, Canada. Perth is not only the site of the Last Fatal Duel in Canada, the oldest golf course, and the worlds largest cheese ... but also the Guinness world record largest kilt race (that we have been happily helping organize the last 10 years)

The hosts approved a last-minute stay even though they were heading out to an event for the evening. We stayed down by the river at their new place, a beautiful old farm property with apple trees, a very interesting old bridge, and a big farm house that they are renovating. It was an enchanting stay with incredibly generous hosts. Thank you for allowing us to have this experience!

We had a delightful overnight on the quiet Tay River just outside Perth. Host, Terry, met us as we rolled in and accompanied us to assist in finding a suitable level spot on the lower terrace for our 30' A Class. We really enjoyed our overnight, with the sounds of geese frolicking in the nearby river. We didn't have time this trip to try out kayaking along the shore.... maybe next time. Thanks for your kind hospitality and good luck with the farmhouse restoration.

I ended up staying at Terry and Mary’s riverside property. A very scenic location, quiet, peaceful and relaxing! The hosts were very helpful and friendly and I hope to visit again with my wife Linda. Dan Kelly

As beautiful are Perth and its surroundings, the real gems in the region are the hosts Mary & Terry. They are the main reason to go back to visit the area again. So welcoming and sharing. Perfect hosts, hard to ask/expect anything more. Since the 'Kirkstone' site wasn't available, exceptionably, they offered us to stay at their other place, the 'old farm'. Just a great spot. It's situated on the shoreline of the peaceful Tay river, lots of wildlife to observe, within 10 minutes of Perth, two types of sites to park your rig, at the 'top' next to the house with electricity/water (if you want to) or 'down' next to the river (no services). The site next to the river may not be accessible depending on your rig. Better talk to the hosts first or have a look once you're there. Great place to launch a kayak outing directly from the farm or to do some sightseeing in Perth and the larger Lanark county. Mary & Terry, thanks for everything! It was perfect! Josee & Luc

Jerry and Mary were great hosts. The area is a beautiful, small city with lots of history. People are very friendly. City park has live music on sundays, the museum is small, but very informative of the manufacturing history of the city. Jerry can give you directions to a great swimming area on the Tay river
