We are located on a 180 acre farm with access to acres of shoreline with fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle board potential. This camping spot is 1 1/2 miles by quiet country roads to the 44 mile Western Reserve Greenway paved bicycle trail. Bald eagles, fox, river otters, beavers, and deer are some of the frequent visitors to our property. Spectacular sunsets, a quiet country paved road, and Amish buggies await your visit. In 2023 we have added a 3/4 mile Hickory Shores interpretive hiking trail with a written guide exploring 27 spots of interest. We are in Ashtabula County, home to 32 wineries and 19 covered bridges including the shortest and longest in the U.S. The second weekend in October brings the Covered Bridge Festival in nearby Jefferson, Ohio. We are conveniently located 14 miles south of Interstate 90, 19 miles south of Lake Erie and 16 miles from Lake Pymatuming .

My husband and I have been traveling and camping together since we met when we were in our mid-twenties. By bicycle camping 10,000 miles in the U.S. and Canada with tents and sleeping bags, backpacking in the Rockies, VW camper explorations, van and pop up camper adventures with our two sons now grown, and 3 class c motorhomes we have been to many wonderful destinations. We still are avid bicyclists, hikers, kayakers, and explorers. When we travel I always enjoy running my 7 mile route while my husband follows along by bike. We love using our motorhome as a basecamp to see new areas and enjoy meeting new people along the way.

We were so pleased to have the opportunity to stay at Hickory Shores. Jack and Marcia were wonderful hosts. We chose this site because it is close to the Western Reserve Greenway Rails to Trails which is beautiful to ride. They have made a nature trail and documented for their visitors the many sites to see along the trail. This is a place we look forward to returning to. We spent two nights here. And probably could have added another night. Its in a beautiful country setting.

we haven’t been on the road long but I can only hope all future hosts are as pleasant as Hank & Sheila!! we had a great time sharing boxer stories and learning about traveling- Pepper & Jamie filled a void we’ve been missing sine we lost our Stoney boy- thanks so much and best of luck with your future travels- I hope you’ll stop into Red Creek NY on your next trip East!❤️

Arriving to a peaceful spot - our hostess was gracious and gave us a brief history of their intentions- we explored our surrounding trails and were so impressed by the work put into giving their guests the ultimate nature experience- highly recommend!!

I could not have designed a more perfect location with more gracious hosts! this was our first time Boondocking with our new rig - what a relief to be at Hickory Shores and have an amazing stay! Our host even brought us fresh summer squash and onions from their garden! We will be routing future trips to make sure we can stop here again.
