House Rules

No rigs longer than 34 ft total. If you have children, please be careful around the lake (big pond). We’re pretty easy to get along with if you don’t hurt our wildlife. We don’t have any children in residence most of the time, but we have 3 overly-friendly small dogs. You are welcome to roam, hike, swim, use our paddle boat on our lake. You can put chairs on our lawn and sit on the deck. Generators are fine, or hook up to our house electrical. We don’t have a water hookup, but you can fill up with the hose. Mark is always happy to sit and share his coffee early in the morning. We’re pretty easy to get along with, and love to meet new people.

Location

Access Road Conditions: The street we access our property from is a state highway, a little narrow, but driveable. It also has some curves, so you probably don’t want to drive fast, but it’s acceptable for big rigs. Our driveway is asphalt most of the way with a small stretch of gravel by the house. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Tow vehicles connected to a large RV would not be able to get down the long driveway. It’s about .25 miles from the street, narrow, curves, and closely lined by trees. We barely get our 34 ft. RV in. There is no street parking. If the tow vehicle could be disconnected, then driven on its own, we could accommodate it.

Retired couple with 2 small dogs and a motorhome. We live in the country in Missouri about an hour from downtown St.Louis. Details: We are retired and enjoy traveling. Mark is a partner in a temporary work service for construction trades located in Salt Lake City, UT. Paula retired from software customer service management several years ago. Our home is on 10 wooded acres with a private pond. We use our lake/pond for swimming and paddle boats. We are about 6 miles north from State Highway 47 in Troy, MO and our house is set back off the road--all paved. Not a lot of flat ground but plenty for parking overnight. We have a large wood deck at the back of our house overlooking our lake. We moved here in mid 2013 after living in Salt Lake City for 20 years, and we are originally from Wisconsin and California a long time ago. We are parents of 5 children and 13 grandchildren. We are simple people that enjoy the simple life and looking forward to meeting new friends. Home Town: Troy, MO is about 65 miles NW of St. Louis and is a small town of about 10,000 population. We are also about 60 miles south of Hannibal, MO, where Mark Twain lived. We are actually about 7 miles north of town and are secluded on 10 acres of mostly woods, with a small lake of our own. Troy has Walmart, another grocery store, and an Aldi. We have several fast food places and a few restaurants. Also a quaint little historic town with a few businesses. Our gas stations usually rank as some of the least expensive in the state.

I enjoyed conversation and coffee before departing. Parking on concrete pad, easy to level with the small 2x8’s I carry. Somewhat narrow winding driveway was no issue for my 25’ Class C.

We had a lovely stay at Mark and Paula's. Mark took the time to help us park and chat a little bit. It was just so nice to get out and walk the property after traveling for twelve hours. The location is easy to find, hidden back off the road in the woods. I wished we had been able to stay more than one quick night. Just a superb experience.

Gorgeous spot surrounded by trees, all turning to fall colors. Mark was very welcoming and helpful. I got a lot of rest and waited out a rain storm. Perfect! Thank you Mark and Paula.

The communication was great. Had a chance to visit with Mark in the afternoon. In the morning we sat on there deck and had coffee and got to know a little about each other. The driveway is narrow but passable with a Class C. The parking needs some leveling, but don’t let that detract. The company made up for it.

We enjoyed our brief stop with our hosts. They were very helpful and shared their beautiful property with us. We enjoyed some conversation on the deck as we drank our morning coffee. It was so great that they offered the full hookup service so we could run our AC as it was a time of high heat advisory. We had to go slow and be careful on the driveway but they had an easy to turn around spot close to the house. Our dog enjoyed running around and exploring their yard off leash!
