We bought a piece of property in Northeast Alabama and now are hosting again. We are on about eight acres in an agricultural/rural area on Sand Mountain. It's fairly level ground, and the property has some trees, so caution is advised. We're working to get electricity to the campsite area. We can offer water to fill your tank. Propane refill is about a ten-minute drive. Well behaved, leashed (& picked up after) pets are welcome. Suggested Local Attractions:We're located near some amazing State Parks -- Desoto SP in Fort Payne, AL, and Cloudland Canyon SP in Rising Fawn, GA. Some nearby attractions are - Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Desoto Falls, Little River Canyon Falls, Mushroom Rock, a Tri-State Marker (AL-TN-GA), and Nickajack Cave, where you can watch the bats emerge every night after sunset (between late April and September).

Location
Access Road Conditions: The road to our property is good. There are some roads nearby that aren't RV friendly (we bottomed out once). Please contact us as to the direction from which you're arriving. Once you enter our driveway, there is one turn (we're working to widen) that would limit the size rig due to the turn radius. We've taken our 32' RV in there with no issues. Our friends towed their 27' travel trailer in there, also with no issues. We're here to assist at this point. After making that turn, there are approximately 3+ acres in which to maneuver provided the ground is dry. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Next to your rig

Retired five+ years, love music, camping, and meeting new friends. Details: Penny retired after 31+ years with the US Postal Service. Plays music & sings, loves cooking, camping & life. Mike is a retired A/C & electrical contractor, an award-winning mandolin player, and plays many other instruments. He likes farming, and the best part of farming is eating whatever Penny cooks! We've traveled to many music festivals, lived a short while on our sailboat, and we enjoy volunteering. It's a great way to be a part of festivals if we're not playing ourselves. In April, 2018, we sold our house went full time. We bought a piece of property in Northeast Alabama, and now plan are hosting again. We're located near some amazing State Parks -- Desoto State Park in Fort Payne, AL, and Cloudland Canyon State Park in Rising Fawn, GA. Some nearby attractions are - Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Desoto Falls, Little River Canyon Falls, Mushroom Rock. Home Town: Bryant, Alabama Favorite Boondocking Locations: Since we retired, we were able to spend seven+ months traveling to Alaska for the summer. of 2016. We took the opportunity to spend several nights with Boondockers Welcome members. They were all enjoyable, but two that stood out were a grain farm in KS, and one near the best BBQ in TX. Outside of Boondockers Welcome, we had folks host us in Driftwood TX (five-day party with musicians from the Austin area), and Homer AK, where we were lucky enough to stay overlooking Homer Marina. We also spent four days at Peterson Lake in Alaska. Skills or Expertise to Share: Being an electrical contractor, and after setting up solar on our RV, Mike can offer wisdom and advice if this is something of interest to you. We also play music.

Penny and Mike were prompt in responding to our same day request. They met us upon our arrival and showed us our parking spot. They made us feel welcomed with their warm hospitality. We had a peaceful night's rest. The next morning, it was like visiting with old friends. We got a tour of their fledgling homestead. We ended up at a local restaurant with a killer view at their suggestion. This was our first experience with Boondockers Welcome and thanks to Penny and Mike, it will always be rememebered as a great experience.

Had a great time chatting with the hosts. Communication beforehand and during our arrival was great. We got to park our rig in a large, beautiful open grassy area surrounded by trees, peace & quiet. Loved our stay. Thank you so much!

Absolutely loved it. Mike and Penny are so nice. It is peaceful and quiet. We sat and read while watching horses, blue birds, cardinals, ducks and rabbits. We hope we get a chance to come back.
