Wapakoneta is the hometown of Neil Armstrong, First Man on the Moon. There is a Space Museum with outside & inside moon/space displays. 2019 is the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. There will be many special events ongoing thru the year with July being the highlite month. We are 3 blocks from Neil's boyhood home which has a small personal display. Our town is a hotspot for antique shops. There is a city water park, several play parks & dog park. We are a quiet comunity where you can bike/walk anytime of day. We are 15 miles from 2 large boating/fishing lakes (indian - Grand lake) Suggested Local Attractions:Museum, antiques, parks. Less than 50 miles from the very large Wright Patterson Air & Space Museum (Dayton)

30 yr. firefighter- Retired as chief. Details: I play golf, boat, fish, my girl friend (Chris) añd I have been dating for a year. (Sadly my wife passed away three years ago). We both enjoy all water sports. Camping is a new activity for Chris. I have been a camper for 50+ years. I just sold my Florida house & bought a motorhome again. Before that I bought a houseboat andbtraversed the great loop waterway of the U S which was a 6000 mile adventure. I lived on a 37ft. cruiser off & on for 6 yrs. Home Town: Wapakoneta, Ohio Home town of Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon Favorite Boondocking Locations: Anywhere we can make new friends or anywhere close to the water. Skills or Expertise to Share: I have taught safe boating, safe driving and l'm sort of a shade tree mechanic. Chris makes beaded jewelry & antique reproduction beaded purses. She can take a bunch of wild flowers & weed and make a fantastic arrangement. I am a certified diver but have not dove in awhile. We love meeting & making new friends and playing/teaching cards. (Ohio Farmers Rummy) is our favorite.

Contacted Moon City via Harvest Host app on 4/4/22 for a 4/16/22 stay. No communication from Moon City at all. Sent a message via Harvest Host app, only way to contact Moon City, with cell number and request to advise if requested stay was a go or no go on 4/15/22, with no communication. Not sure if they had an emergency or something else but definitely disappointed that we were not contact ed either way as of 4:29 pm on 4/16/22. Had to make other plans last minute for an overnight stay.

Steve.Chris are amazing hosts who we are now proud to call friends. They welcomed us despite the fact they were also busy packing their RV to leave in the morning. Since we were heading in the same direction and they planned to stay at a Cracker Barrel, we decided to join them there. It was a cold night but they hooked us up to share their generator. So provided us with electric not just at their home but from on the road as well. Can't beat that!! Hope they will come visit us in Ontario soon.
