Canadian border location across from Michigan/Detroit to the north (not a typo). NOT AVAILABLE November 24 TO April 5th. Suggested Local Attractions:Lots of things in our border location. Festivals in the summer and great restaurants all year round. 10 minute walk from a real nice waterfront park system overlooking the Detroit River. Nearby many interesting museums such as the Hiram Walker historic head office, RM Auto (for the classic car buff), Fort Malden in Amherstburg, an 1812 history location. Lots of VQA wineries to tour. Yes, Canada really has some real fine award winning wines. If you're interested in black history there is the Black Historical History Museum and Uncle Tom's Cabin from the "Underground Railway" days. Bicycling along the river via a good network of bike trails in the downtown area with great views. Lots of fresh produce at stands and farmer's markets in season.

Married to Lynn - sometimes on the road in the Roadtrek, winter in a 5th in FL Details: Interested in travel especially by motorcycle or sailboat. Or, of course our Roadtrek. We bought it in the spring of 2013 after retirement and after some shakedown trips left for Prudhoe Bay, AK via Yellowstone Park. Had a great time and like RV camping much better than tenting by the motorcycle we've been travelling on for the past many years. Looking to meet people with similar (or different) interests. So far it's been a very good experience hosting and visiting Boondocker's Welcome members. Home Town: Windsor, Ontario (summer) Wauchula, Florida (winter) Favorite Boondocking Locations: Deadhorse, AK, or almost any fishing dock in Labrador and of course any of the Boondockers Welcome members we've had the pleasure of staying with. Skills or Expertise to Share: Sailing, long distance motorcycling. Iron Butt Association. Graphic designer, owned a Printing Co. for 35 years. Mechanical ability and tools - mostly motorcycle related. Also bicycling and particularly recumbents.

Great stay. Access and parking was a little tricky with our camper van but our hosts were super good at guiding us in and out! Super hosts! Lots of good advice for newbies like us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again when in the area!!

Congenial folks, great travel tales, close to the river, restaurants, donut and pastry shops. Spent an enjoyable evening with them. Do the same if you’re in the vicinity.

We arrived just before dusk on Friday evening after a long day travelling and visiting the the Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. We were greeted by a friendly gent named Bob, who kindly helped me back in to the parking space on his driveway, we were the largest RV he has had (we are 25ft) but we fitted just fine, would say that no bigger though. Bob and his wife were very accommodating and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed and provided us with an electric connection. They recommended a few places to eat locally and also to have a walk on the riverside. The next morning they headed out but made sure they said goodbye to us first and helped with directions to Niagra falls, our next stop, and to go from Niagra on the lake as it is a lot more scenic. Would 100% recommend Near the River stay to anyone, a very friendly, helpful and accommodating couple.
