Farmstead in central Kansas provides a quiet, country stay. We have several places you can park, all on grass or driveways, and close to level. You may need to use leveling blocks, depending on where you choose to park. One electric hookup ((30 A only)) is available near the Quonset. Water is available from our well. We use a water filter when filling our trailer. There is a dump station for wastewater. We are located ten miles from Cheyenne Bottoms, the largest wetland in the interior of the US, a stopping point for birds migrating along the Central Flyway. The Bottoms are also critical habitats for several endangered and threatened species. A little further is Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. (The Bottoms are suffering from the drought at this time with low water levels and some ponds have dried up completely. I do not know how this will affect the fall bird migration. I have not heard anything about Quivira, it may be suffering the same fate.) The Wetlands and Wildlife National Scenic Byway includes both Cheyenne Bottoms and Quivera: https://www.travelks.com/things-to-do/byways-and-highways/byways/wetlands-and-wildlife/ We are 20 miles from Great Bend KS. Tripadvisor list of things to do and see: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g38748-Activities-Great_Bend_Kansas.html We are 50 miles from Hays KS, with Fort Hays State University, Old Fort Hays, Sternburg Museum and many other places of interest: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g38748-Activities-Great_Bend_Kansas.html Requests received after 10 pm central time will be answered the following morning.

We are a retired couple living on a Kansas farmstead. Since the early 2000s, we have been RV'ing after tent camping for most of our adult lives. Now we are traveling with a 2014 Lance 1885 travel trailer. We have also signed up to be BoondockersWelcome hosts so that we may pay our stays forward.

We've done a lot of HH and BW and this is in the top 5! Very level parking near the barn and beautiful surroundings. The hookup in the barn was perfect and the quiet evening nap during the rain as well as that nights sleep was peaceful like no other! Super great host and we really enjoyed talking with them! Hope to stay again!

This was my very first BW/HH experience and I fully understand why the program has been so successful. Extremely generous hosts and a quiet anf idyllic farmstead setting. I had such a great time visiting that I delayed my departure the next morning and I have no regrets except that I couldn't visit longer. These folks are phenomenal and this is a must-stop for anyone traveling through Kansas. Electricity and water available. Thank you so much for hosting me! I am grateful and had a wonderful time. Sincerest gratitude!
