West side of Winnipeg close to Perimeter Hwy, Hwy 1 (TransCanada), shopping and all services including RV wash, and propane fill. Steps from the Harte trail for walking or biking. Trail goes directly to Assiniboine Park/Forest and Zoo and beyond. Close to provincial park (just west of here) and also to one of the 2 best dog parks in the city. You’d be staying on my driveway in front of the house in a residential neighborhood. This is more of a place to get rest and solid sleep rather than enjoy camp out activities right outside your rig. Suggested Local Attractions: Assiniboine Park/Forest and Zoo. Downtown are the Forks, (National) Human Rights Museum, Art Gallery and other Winnipeg attractions. Not far from me is Fort Whyte outdoor centre where you can catch a glimpse of a huge variety of birds including great owls (you can hear them hooting at night in my neighbourhood) and even Bald Eagles. There is a lake and fishing (including ice fishing) along with equipment rental if you don’t have a pole. To the north of the city are lakes, beaches and outdoor attractions. Watch Pelicans land on the river in Lockport, and don’t forget to enjoy smoked Goldeye (fish). In the summer there is Folklorama, Goldeye (local baseball team) games, the huge Folk Festival in Birds Hill park and so much more.

Winter or summer, I’m a happy camper Details: I recently retired from the Canadian military after a very busy career with service all over the world. Taking some time to enjoy the freedom to travel wherever and whenever I like. I travel with Gus, the friendliest Westie you could ever meet. Gus has never met a human, of any age, or a dog, of any size, that he did not like. We believe in leaving no trace behind and Gus is always on leash and under my control. Most days we find a new spot to hike and enjoy nature. Then we cozy up in the rig where Gus naps while I enjoy puzzles, reading, drawing and plenty of knitting. Gus and I can be social butterflies but we sure love our quiet time and the sounds of nature. Home Town: Winnipeg, Manitoba Favorite Boondocking Locations: Anywhere off the beaten path. The further from civilization the better. Skills or Expertise to Share: General problem solving.

Our first Boondocker stay and what a marvelous introduction! Our host was out of town but still welcomed us to stay in their large level driveway in a welcoming neighborhood. Crazy convenient to the Assiniboine Park Zoo and its amazing arctic/polar bear exhibit, Easy access to downtown. We were thankful they allowed us to use their recycling bin, Seriously Grateful for the generosity and hospitality!

M and G and S all gave us a very friendly greeting. M was very accommodating and generous when we had rig issues and had to stay an extra night. M even shared some of her garden bounty
