Located on the edge of the Osceola Forest, our site is covered in huge Live Oak trees draping with moss, so camper height should be considered. We’re right around the corner from the Osceola National Forest. There’s many free ATV Trails and deer and wild turkey frequently wander through the property. I have a cottage on part of our property that rents as an AirBNB, so if you have someone who’d like to get out of the camper for a bit, you can check with me for availability and rates. Suggested Local Attractions:Fishing, hiking, swimming, birdwatching. Olustee Battlfield is about twenty minutes away, a Cival War historical battle site. Ocean Pond is about twenty minutes away, which is great for swimming, skying, fishing and picnicking. There’s also tubing down the Itchetucknee River, which is incredible. White Springs, the Stephen Foster memorial, and the Suwannee River, are just a few other closely places you should visit..

House Rules

Pick up your own trash Use the butt holder for cigarette butts If you bring pets, have them “go” in the forest, or clean up after them. Pets on leash only. Note that if there is no one in our cottage, we do have a fenced area where you can turn them lose for a bit as long as they don’t bark at neighbors. No generators after 10pm.

Location

Access Road Conditions: Our road is paved all the way except maybe the last 50 yards and that’s hard rock. We have water hookup only at this time. I do have parking still for those dry camping. We have low hanging trees in center of property, which is important to note. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: We have a shale rock driveway, but you will be parking on the grass. If we have had a lot of rain, we may have to deny your request as we don’t want you to get stuck. Our property has a number of large oak trees for shade so height is a consideration.

Osceola Connections, We ❤️ the Woods! Details: My husband and I live on a forest property located in the Osceola National Forest of North Florida with Pewee, a 17 year old Rat Terrier, Ellie Mae, a 3 year long-haired Dashund, and Meli-Cat, a 7 year old ginger tabby/mouser. We live full time in our RV, staying home in the winter on our rv space and traveling out west in the summer to camp-host in Oregon, Washington and such. We also have a small vacation rental on one half of our property and rent it out to travelers from all over. We love hosting others and having an opportunity to share our neck of the woods with them. Home Town: Lake City, Florida is our home town. Sharon was born and raised here, and CH moved here from Georgia as a child. Married in 1970 as kids, with well over 50 years together we’ve had quite the ride. We have 3 adult children, 7 adult grandchildren and 7 young great grandchildren. They are scattered from Florida to Alaska, so our camp-hosting out west gives us a chance to visit them en-route. We’ve spent 10 years in the Middle East in the 70s and 80s where my husband worked for Lockheed, 25 years in Alaska where Sharon had several businesses, publishing and later vacation rental management. Now in our 70s we spend our “retirement” years camphosting and traveling in our RV. Lake City is just south of the Georgia border, in the middle of the state. Interstate 10 and I-75 wrap around Lake City, offering ten different ways to get on the interstate, earning the name of Gateway to Florida.. In addition to being a beautiful town, Lake City offers many opportunities for fishing, hiking and swimming. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We’ve been using Boondockers Welcome since 2019 and Harvest Hosts, I think since 2021. We have enjoyed almost all places we’ve stayed, finding each unique. We’ve stayed at a farm in Nebraska, Peach Orchards, Bowling Alleys, Churches and have enjoyed and appreciated them all. My favorite if I had to be honest, was a Catfish Farm in Mississippi. Incredibly beautiful, no, wait, then there’s Utah.. Love Utah, wait, the waterfalls in Oregon are amazing.. the list goes on. But, then, there’s the Bowling Alley, where we sit on the edge of a valley and watch the sunrise over the valley, or the farm in Nebraska, where steam rose from a fresh plowed field, bringing back childhood memories. So many places to go, so little time. ♥️ Skills or Expertise to Share: We love the forest and are familiar with the wide array of animal and plant life in the Osceola forest. I love studying the birds of the forest. I’m also an avid gardener, preferring a natural Forest feel. My husband loves fishing and football. LOL! We love to travel and drive from Florida to the west coast, Oregon each year to camphost in the National Forest there. Our drive across country is an opportunity to visit children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many friends we’ve made in our 50+ years of marriage. We tag ourselves the “Rambling Romines” and will continue rambling till we can’t. Love meeting folks from all walks of life and hearing their stories.

Sharon was very communicative and came out with her little dog on a leash to show us to our spot. Mosquitos were hungry so we pretty much stayed indoors. We slept with everything wide open so neighbouring barking dogs were a bit of an annoyance, but hey, that is life in the country.

Great hosts that responded quickly to us. Provided lots of helpful tips for travel along our route. The parking spot allowed us to pull through so we didn’t have to unhook. Tip. Be sure to leave by the same route that you came. We thought we’d take what appeared to be a shorter route by turning right on mc Carrie. Don’t turn right at the stop as it turns into a dirt road.
