Small home, BIG yard. Acres and acres nearby to walk. About 3/4 mile to the Heartland trail. The paved Fred Meijer Heartland Trail rolls for 42 miles through farmland and forests in central Michigan as it links a half-dozen rural towns with recreational opportunities. Park your RV to the side of our driveway where it is flat and gravel covered. For the more adventurous, pull around back (drive over the front lawn) and park anywhere (near the trees, fire pot, anywhere). Lots of room to turn around! Suggested Local Attractions:Great Lakes Adventist Academy, Michigan Adventist Campground, and Cedar Lake's very own Two-Story Outhouse. LIKE TO BIKE? Our home is less than a mile from a 125-mile rails-to-trails loop system known as Fred Meijer Mid-Michigan Trail Network of interconnected non-motorized trails that comprise the fifth-largest continuous rail trail in the nation. This loop is beautifully rural but does pass through several small cities and villages such as Alma, Ithaca, St Johns, Ionia, Lowell, Greenville, and Edmore allowing for breaks along the way. The trail is asphalt covered most of the way and is still being improved. For more trail information visit: https://www.mitrails.org

Quiet School Teachers Family Details: Just a couple of simple teachers, and a couple of kids to boot. Home Town: Cedar Lake, Michigan Favorite Boondocking Locations: One of my favorites was a spot along an Alaskan glacier melt river just outside of Valdez. A local at the Exit glacier park reluctantly told us about the locals hideout away from the summer tourists. It was gorgeous, and the sound of the rushing water made for the best nights sleep ever!! The wife was nervous that I might get the 31' rig stuck. We did good!!! Any free location is our favorite, and we make a game of avoiding the pay campgrounds because we don't stay more than a night and don't typically need any amenities. When we were noobs, our worst was paying $55 to stay at a KOA near Rushmore from 10 pm to 7am - yuck. Skills or Expertise to Share: Computing, teaching, religion, foodies, motor home traveling. We LOVE national parks!

After a short but pleasant conversation with Todd we headed to the Heartland Bike Trail and it was so fun to bike on. Flat, mostly shaded, and through a nice variety of scenery and small towns. Abandoned railways make wonderful bike paths. We did have a bit of trouble getting level but all-in-all it was a nice convenient short stopover.

Easy acsess and large driveway. We took our bikes for a lttle ride on the Hearland Trail w which is paved is and runs through some beautiful country. Todd and his family were pleasant and welcoming, giving us access to plug-in our rig for the night. Easy place to take a rest on your journey through Michigan
