Experimental aircraft enthusiast and Monarch butterfly garden host Details: Jon teaches how to build experimental airplanes. Ramelle retired from journalism and works part-time at a nearby state park. We live on a small grass airstrip in beautiful southern Door County. Jon is a pilot, owner of Homebuilt Help, and columnist for Kitplanes magazine. We enjoy traveling in our 2014 Winnebago. Home Town: Jon is originally from Illinois. Ramelle is a homegrown Wisconsin girl. We live in rural Brussels, Wisconsin. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We have been boondocking in Florida, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, and pretty much any Cracker Barrel or Walmart parking lot that will have us. Skills or Expertise to Share: Sport aircraft is Jon's expertise. He is also a ham radio operator. Ramelle works at Potawatomi State Park and volunteers at the local hospital. We have had our Covid vaccinations and although it is not a RULE, we would hope those traveling and visiting would likewise have had their shots.

We really appreciated the ability to stay here. They were very pleasant couple and were helpful in providing us brochures ton the area. We appreciate the time they gave us and enjoyed the discussion on the plane. We would stay again when we are in the area.

A lovely retreat and gracious hosts. The property has a butterfly garden that I was able to explore. I was provided a travel guide that helped me explore the area and homemade blueberry cider cake!!

Quiet location on a country road, Jon was very welcoming and friendly, level spot with super easy access. I had great conversation with Jon on everything from building airplanes to solar options for RV's. Unfortunately I did not meet Ramelle but that was my fault - I spent the days on long hikes so when I came back to my rig I was exhausted and just crashed. Oops probably shouldn't say that in case a pilot might read this! I recommend this host without hesitation.

We had a great stay. Super nice hosts and we loved the inquisitive cats. We parked on a large level area in front of the plane hanger. He has a very interesting hobby of building ultra-light aircraft. This is a convenient spot to explore Strugeon Bay from. We highly recommend Plane Door County and would glady return.
