Wanna stay away from the city and all the noise? Come stay at our small ranch for a reprieve from the road. We live on a small 20-ranch with a few animals and nice views. We are just 15 minutes outside of Bakersfield proper. You may bring a dog as long as it is kept on a leash. We have dogs also and will need to coordinate doggie greetings. Dogs may not be off leash as they often will chase the livestock. Our ranch has a miniature donkey, horses, and some chickens. The ranch is set off a quiet country road with gentle rolling hills. The homesteaders in this area all have a minimum of 20 acres. On most days, there is a view of the mountains to the East. The sunrises are beautiful! If you love animals or being in the foothills, this is a great, peaceful spot. Beware, you may be awakened to the sounds of a rooster crowing, a cow mooing or a donkey braying in the morning. :) We sell fresh chicken eggs if you are interested in purchasing these during your stay Suggested Local Attractions: Bakersfield is a medium-sized friendly community. We live just North of town (about 10 miles). One local attraction is visiting the Buck Owens Crystal Palace. This is a country western dinner and a show place with lots of country music memorabilia. We are also known for our Basque food, which is very unique to the United States. Kern County has a large Basque community and we always encourage visitors to eat at one of our many Basque restaurants. There are lots of outdoor attractions in close proximity to Bakersfield (45 - 60 minutes) which we can suggest to you when you stay with us.

House Rules

Keep dogs leashed - they can be on a long leash and there are places they can be walked; pick up doggie waste please! If your dog is caught harassing or chasing livestock you will be asked to leave. You may use our trash bin for your trash as space allows. No smoking or generators on property - the fire danger can be high in the summer Sing and play your guitar (if you can)!!! Do not open the gates to visit the animals unless the hostess is with you (this is very tempting) Children are okay as long as they are supervised at all times and are kept away from the animals unless the hostess is with you (again.... tempting but please wait for the hostess) For winter stays and when the fire danger is very low, you may request to run the generator and/or BBQ. Sorry, no BBQ or generator when the grass is brown. During the week, host/hostess contact may be minimal if we are working. During the weekends, we are likely to want to BBQ with you, show you the animals, etc.

Access Road Conditions: You must travel 2 miles on a dirt road to get to the property. This road is traveled already by homeowner RVers, with rigs of various sizes with no issues. On the property, you must be able to back out of the available space. WATCH FOR THE WATER SPIGOT ON THE RIGHT WHEN YOU ENTER THE DRIVEWAY AND DO NOT RUN OVER IT! (happened once before). Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Tow vehicle parking is available next to rig or in other close proximity spots

Hardworking, conservative Details: We are conservative, hardworking people who are blessed with a small ranch. We enjoy working on the ranch, cooking, and playing with our animals. We travel when we can, but we're currently focused on saving up for retirement so we can become full-time RVers some day.

Beautiful, Peaceful Ranch. Ample space for parking. Host is very accommodating and a pleasure to stay with. It is a bit tricky to find, but follow the instructions and you'll get there.. I would advise that you arrive in the daylight as the Rockin H sign is difficult to see.

Very peaceful, because it’s a couple of miles off the main road. The area is populated by large and small ranches, meaning open space. we enjoyed our stay, and appreciate our gracious host.

Awesome views, great host and ferociously sweet guard dog. Plenty of communication and helpful local tips. The road in is intimidating but completely passable. All that and horses and a donkey!!

Host gave excellent directions and was very welcoming. The dirt road was a bit rough with the trailer, but take it slow and it is fine.
