We are rustic and don't have neighbors, but the road noise can sometimes be heard, depending on the wind. Well behaved pets are welcome. Dogs must be cat friendly if they go outside, as we have a resident barn cat mouser. There is a wide trail/path we keep mowed around a 3 acre field which is a great dog walk/run. There is so much wildlife to sniff, a leash may be best, dog depending. We can wave you to a parking spot and electrical from a safe social distance. We are not fancy here and we are not big socializers, but we are glad to be a host. We are not set up for a water hook-up proper, but we could find a way to top off your water tank. Responsible smoking is fine. This is a Safe Space. Suggested Local Attractions:Wildlife abounds here. May see deer and turkeys and hear cayotes and owls and lots of other birds. Go Slow on the gravel road, because its a regular deer crossing and sometimes they just stand in the road. In the summer we have lots of sunflowers and we may have some garden goodies to share. Nearest town with a grocery store is 20 min away and its closed on Sundays.

Location

Access Road Conditions: We are located between Des Moines and Marshalltown on a small acerage. Our place is off a main highway, 6/10 of a mile down a gravel road. There is room to turn around, but no pull-through parking. Parking is a combo of gravel and grass. Weather and unit permitting, we could put you up in a wooded area. It’s hard to describe the Main parking area but it is basically at the end of our dead-end road. Not super duper level, but certainly doable. One of our photos shows where friends parked with a truck and trailer and they could still reach the receptacle. Ask if you have a very large unit and we can discuss. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: We can make room on our gravel driveway for a tow vehicle or a small unit. If your group has more than one unit, we may be able to accommodate, but we only have one 30 amp receptacle. One time a 35 ft trailer parked here, but it was such a tight turnaround, we changed the length to 30 ft. OK to ask about a parking a larger unit here. In good weather, a truck and a small solid trailer that didn't need hookups, could camp with nearby in a wooded area for maximum privacy.

Jeremy and Sonja were very gracious in letting us stay even though they were away camping themselves. Instructions given were perfect. Parking spot was level and access to electric was convenient. Very beautiful and peaceful surroundings. In the morning we were greeted affectionately by the barn cat. Made for a nice sendoff!

I cannot say enough of the hospitality given to us for our stay! Sonia came out as soon as we arrived. She showed us where everything was including a 30 amp power receptacle in that is easy to get to. They were so gracious, warm and helpful. It was a nice stay and I highly recommend them!
