We just purchased this 1909 home and are remodeling it but there are over 2 acres and lots of trees. It's in the city but feels like it's in the country! Suggested Local Attractions: Madisonville has it's own baseball team! If you're as big a fan as I am (Cathy) I'd love to catch a game with you. There are farmer's markets and cute shops - typical small town Americana - but be sure to take your photo in The Mad Blue Chair downtown! We're about an hour and a half north of Nashville, TN and an hour south of Evansville, IN. and not too far from the Land Between the Lakes. We just bought this 1909 property so we're doing lots of fixing up and remodeling - just ask to see and we'll do our best! We have a Live Steam G Scale train track for any of you who run live steam engines! For those that don't run, I'll let you in on a secret ( It doesn't take much to convince Ed to run one of his for you!). I've started to learn how to garden, this year was my first attempt, I've learned a lot and would love to hear any advice you have. We love meeting new folks and look forward to getting to know you or if you'd prefer we can be invisible for your stay - just let us know. PLEASE LEAVE A HOST REVIEW AFTER YOUR STAY, IT'S OUR REWARD FOR HOSTING.

House Rules

Children and well behaved pets are ALWAYS welcome here with Nana & Pop but you adults must make a reservation! LOL...Oh and If you're handy with home repairs and want to stay longer - let's talk! Please only smoke in your trailer and don't throw the butts outside. If you have an outside pet - please pick up any waste. The electric is 20 amps and is only $10/ night, please don't make me have to ask for it but many have "forgotten" to pay. I'm putting together a binder of local things to do and places to eat so be sure to remind me to show you if you're interested.

Location

Access Road Conditions: If you are driving a Class A we can probably only accommodate up to 42 feet because of the turn into the driveway- if you'd like to come try it send a request with the knowledge that it might not work getting into the driveway. There are city roads in front of and beside the property. I recommend pulling into the gravel driveway via the Baxter St side - at least until we fix the dip in the driveway near the front side. I recommend swinging wide into the driveway - at least with our 38' 5th wheel and 36' trailer we have to do that. I have a lot of brochures for things to do in the area and all over KY and Nashville, TN. Feel free to ask to look them over. You can turn around in the grass unless it's wet then you'll want to stay on the gravel driveway. Please let us know when you're about an hour away so we can do our best to greet you and help you find the best spot. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: You're welcome to park in front of or beside your rig.

Semi-retired. New old home in the best Small town in Kentucky! Come visit!! Details: We are on our 3rd RV and have downsized to a small retro tow behind that better suits us. Ed is an avid Live Steamer - meaning that he builds steam plants, steam trains and steam boats which all use real steam from a boiler to provide power. He learned this from his father and has passed the love onto our sons. Cathy likes the rolling stock better and especially enjoys the vintage ones. Cathy loves learning - EVERYTHING - but especially history. I'm also a HUGE baseball fan - especially the Phillies & the Madisonville Minors - but I enjoy watching the minor leagues, high school and college kids playing also. I'm in the process of making some quilts so if you have any expertise I'm hoping you'll share your knowledge. We also enjoy riding bikes, digging around antique shops and auctions. Home Town: Currently in Madisonville, KY. Cathy grew up in Clearwater, FL but was born in Tennessee. Ed was born in Massachusetts but grew up in Orlando. Favorite Boondocking Locations: EVERYONE we have stayed with has been a perfect host!! So happy we've found this site. Skills or Expertise to Share: Ed can figure out how to fix anything! Cathy can sew when the mood strikes but my real talent is finding and encouraging talent in others.

This was our first trip away from home and we ran into a few HUGE hiccups that slowed us down by several hours. I was so worried because we were showing up a lot later than we were supposed too. Cathy was so sweet and understanding and told me to just be careful. She even asked if we had eaten and offered to cook for us. It's not often you come across humans like that. 💜 Our stay was nice and very peaceful. Ed showed our kids his steam trains that he and his Dad built. Which was really awesome! We highly recommend them and we would definitely stay again. Thank you you both!!

This was a perfect place to settle in, get some work done and rest. Thank-you very much for the tour of the Christmas light display and for sharing your passion for your new city.

We arrived at the property and we were immediately greeted by Cathy who was an absolute delight. She made homemade dog treats for our fur babies! ❤️ Parking was super easy, yard was large and great for the pups. Water was easily accessible. The hosts are what make this place so special. I absolutely recommend checking out if you’re looking for a nice place to stay.

Stayed four nights. Communication was great and response was quick. Met Cathy while setting up and she let me know what was happening in town with the holidays happening. Appreciated that. Chatted with Ed some on my last day, quite the craftsman with his hobbies. I even took some pictures of his work. Really easy in and out with my rig and plenty of room to turn around once on the lot. If you are a golfer the Madisonville Country Club is the one to go to. Did not get a chance to golf the City Park course though due to weather not cooperating fully so I do not know how that course is. Would definitely stay again. Thanks again for your hospitality, it was appreciated.

We really appreciated the warm welcome, especially since my husband was sick and needed some down time! ...and big thankyou for helping me get electrical hooked up in the cold temps. I enjoyed getting to know our host as we walked around their historic town.
