2 acres on the shore of Chedabucto Bay, near the town of Canso. (That is about 1 hour's drive off of the Trans Canada Highway, about 1.25 hours drive from the Canso Causeway. And by the way, the town was here first! :) ) Cleared area surrounded by trees. We have our 30' FR3 parked here all summer, but there is lots of room for visiting vehicles with multiple parking spots to choose from, all with a beautiful view of the ocean. We are continuing to develop (clear & build) on the property each summer. (Any help offered is gratefully appreciated) We are located right on the water with a nearby (maybe 7 minute walk) public stone beach with swimming area. The property is surrounded by Crown land to hike and explore and the area boasts numerous tourist stops, including Cape Breton Island only about an hour and 20 minutes drive away. Very quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife around and no hookups or amenities on our property at this time. There is also the Sea Breeze Campground just down the road (about 15 minute walk) if you need a place to stay to hookup before or after your visit. Pets welcome! Kids welcome! 20+ foot cliff down to the water that is gorgeous and awe inspiring to walk along, please don't let your pets fall. :) Also, please have proper shoes or boots to wear, the vegetation is quite wild still and as a result there are thorn covered plants that are prevalent in some areas. Suggested Local Attractions: Short drive to the historic town of Canso (about 10 minutes) or the town of Guysborough (about 30 minutes) where the Authentic Seacoast Distilling Company is located and can be visited. An hour and 20 minutes to Cape Breton Island, though you can see it from our shores. Truly this is a place to just stop and rest for a bit. STAN ROGERS Folk Festival is the last full weekend in July, only a 10-minute drive away in Canso! The same with the Route 16 Thunder Rally the first full weekend of August! And there are always events taking place within a short drive. Don't forget to visit a real historic lighthouse in Queensport, the lighthouse museum in Half Island Cove, and the numerous maintained hiking trails around and the Canso Islands National Historic Site too.

House Rules

Location

Access Road Conditions: Access road is old gravel road not used much over the last 50-100 years. Has been updated with new culverts, widened to accommodate rigs, and re-surfaced to provide a comfortable ride in and out. No steep hills and corners have been opened up and widened and trees cut back (both at the sides and above) to allow rigs to navigate. We have a round driveway allowing visitors to pull through without having to back up to leave. Some visitor park sites are pull through while others are back in. All provide a view of the ocean! Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Unpaved gravel ... lots of space either next to rig or separate (may be out of sight of rig if separate). Visitor's choice.

My wife and I are both prof's at the post secondary level who love to get away in the summer! Details: Laura and I (Stephen) both teach computer science (yes, we do Windows). We are both introverts and love to take long quiet summers away from the everything. We travel with our 30 foot MH, a Forest River FR3!!, and our three cats (who always stay inside the motorhome). We have spent time travelling Canada, especially the east coast and have spent summers on our property in Nova Scotia on the coast looking out over the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Breton. Often staying with Boondockers and having other Boondockers staying with us. What a great experience and a wonderful opportunity to meet people. Now we are looking for a way to do it again! Now when I say we are introverts, you have to understand that we are in front of classes of students, often every day. What we look for in summer are a quiet time and quiet conversation. We love to meet new people, but only in rather small groups. We read (a lot) and take pictures. My wife says I am the only person she knows that when asked "what are you thinking?" or "what's on your mind" and answers "nothing" is telling the truth! Most recently we are working on starting a new Managed Security Services Provider business (SolopreneurIT.ca) providing IT support and Security services to micro businesses and solopreneurs. Check us out! Home Town: Canso, Nova Scotia. I'm going to start asking around, so I can add to this later! Favorite Boondocking Locations: New to this but haven't met a place that we were unhappy with yet! Skills or Expertise to Share: For myself, being modest, good to expert on computers (networks, wireless, security) woodworking and out of the box solutions. For my wife, good to expert on computers (networks, wireless, security), crocheting and knitting, and COOKING!

What a wonderful place to stay! Stephen and Laura are fantastic. They welcomed us immediately and made us feel right at home. Their property is a quiet, private, beautiful ocean-front lot where they plan on building their dream home. We especially enjoyed walking in the area, and of course the peaceful nights. We made some great friends and can’t wait to visit them again!

The couple that owns this place is extremely helpful and accommodating. This is a very special place overlooking the water and they are so generous to share it with us. My dogs loved it.

A magnificently rugged coastline, breathtaking sun rises and sun sets, along with kind & generous hosts made our stay unforgettable. Tucked away from any road noise, the only sounds we heard was the ocean in all her splendour. The site pad was level and situated with a spectacular view from all three windows of our RV. We will definitely be back and rate this stay as a perfect five star. Thank you so much for hosting and sharing your oasis with us.
