Adventurous Country Dweller Details: My wife and I have a quiet location in an unincorporated town with about 16 inhabitants, 32 miles from the Okoboji Great Lakes region of northwest Iowa. Spencer, IA is a quick 14 miles east on a nice blacktop. The home is about 100 ft from the blacktop on gravel. We love the outdoors, boon-docking, and boating. We are also just as happy sitting by a fire listening to the wildlife. Deer, raccoons, and an occasional fox are often seen in our yard. We thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and hearing of their travels. So, your presence is our reward, and no gift is needed. Besides, we are purging so we can hit the road in a few years! Home Town: Moneta, IA Favorite Boondocking Locations: Beach camping in Texas. Padre Island, Magnolia Beach, Brazosport. Besides the amazing view and sounds, it’s free!! Casinos are also wonderful because of the 24 hour security. Skills or Expertise to Share: I am a fabricator and very mechanically inclined with a multitude of tools including air driven, a welder, and hardware on hand. My wife says I am a John of all trades. We have gutted and remdelled our home, and I cannot resist taking anything apart and making it function better.

Had a great 2 night stay with Cheryl and John while attending the Clay County Fair (best county fair for sure). Loved the stay, the location, the kittens and the quiet. Great host. Would absolutely stay again if given the opportunity.

What a beautiful and restful place to stay. John and Cheryl are two very down to earth and friendly people. Where you park at is easy to get in and out of. Thank you both for the veggies from your garden and for letting enjoy your peaceful piece of property. Will definitely stay again whenever in the area.

We stayed for 2 nights over the Labor Day weekend. our hosts were out of town so we missed out on meeting them. We did meet their neighbors and they were very nice and were very helpful regarding setup etc. The only issue would be the neighbor who treats his property like it's the local dump. We situated our camper facing west and had an extension for our power cable and were able to setup on the gravel instead of the grass right by the 30 amp plug. Very level site on the gravel. Great access to Spencer and Lake Okoboji.

Small town Iowa. The site in the back was great. Quiet and easy to back in. Not close(1-3miles) to any restaurants or food so keep that in mind. We stopped at grocery store in Sheldon before arrival. The location was perfect for us right on our route. Would definitely stay here again if our route went through the area.
