PLEASE NOTE: Every morning around 6 am we respond to and confirm all requests for a stay within the next seven days. SAME DAY REQUESTS MADE AFTER 6 AM MUST BE BY TELEPHONE as we are not at our computer all day. So please, do not fret, do not cancel if you don't get an immediate response to a timely web request for a stay. We can accommodate many guests at one time, weather permitting so your timely stay request is 99% likely to be confirmed. Our confirmation process requires an additional step over and above making an online request. Please look for a HH message after making your request. We have gone the extra mile to design a system and write directions that are more responsive to our guest's confidence in our host site. In addition we have designed directions that will overcome the hazards of a GPS instructions and help you avoid blind curves, low over heads, construction delays and narrow pavement. We manage our property to make this more of a destination than just an overnight stay, and as such we have to manage our reservation system to ease your mind, make your travel here peaceful and the "in and out" experience more comforting. First things first: 1. PLEASE NOTE: FORMER BOONDOCKERS WELCOME MEMBERS: You must include your real name in your request in order to be considered. If you try to make a reservation under your nickname, WE WILL NOT respond. 2. Generator policy: We allow quiet type RV generators. Loud construction or general type generators may need to be quieted during nights and mornings. 3. Pay no attention to the hours listed. Harvest Hosts requires we list hours in order to accept visitor reservations but they have no purpose otherwise. We operate our farm exclusively for our members and guests. As such we do not have regular business hours for a “store”. The above listed hours are listed only because HH requires them for RV reservations only. 4. Our location has amenities of its own. Now, in addition to what we think you will find to be the best Harvest Host farm stay location available anywhere, here's what else you will find at Steepleview Farm: Peace and Quiet. We are a peaceful farm, dedicated to local history, natural beauty, awe inspiring sunsets, incredible vistas, and our newly renovated 1858 Farmhouse in which we manufacture our very popular jams, jellies, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, BBQ rubs, Apple Butter and Ky Bourbon Flavored products. We are an all natural, sustainable farm growing incredibly healthy and wholesome delicious produce which for years we grew for the fresh market but now have transitioned to growing the ingredients we use in making delicious shelf stable products using old fashioned recipes and methods, all fully certified and approved. Advance reservations to tour the farm, hear local history, see our quaint small farm, small batch, food crafter manufacturing facility are available if made at the time of your reservation (free). We LOVE to share our decades of natural living experiences with everyone, including those with homesteading gardening, canning, preserving, pickling and cooking interests. 5. And finally, this is the perfect place to set up "base camp" and explore the many attractions nearby (all less than an hour away). These include: a. The Ark Encounter b. The Creation Museum c. Historic Frankfort (state capitol) and its tours of historic buildings d. Big Bone Lick State Park - Mastodon Dig and Bison Herd e. Four local public Golf Courses f. Historic Madison Indiana -quaint river town, great homes, shop/dine g. Historic Frankfort Cemetery- Burial place of Daniel and Rebecca Boone h. Bellterra Casino i. Buffalo Trace Distillery tours- Historic Distillery on the Bourbon Trail j. Neeley Family Distillery - very nearby, tastings and tours k. Hanover College Campus - Ivy covered buildings in beautiful setting l. Clifty Falls State Park m. Markland Dam and Locks -Ohio River park n. Coming soon: petting zoo, horseback riding (on neighboring farm) ****We are easy to find so to ease your mind, make your travel here more enjoyable and to assure you of the best route and directions possible, through the collaborative effort of our many prior guests arriving in all sorts of RV's, we have assembled THEIR suggestions into comprehensive directions. ARRIVAL All guests must arrive before dark, local time. Despite detailed directions, after dark it is hard to visualize the parking area and despite detailed directions, guests continue to turn down our private driveway, not the RV parking entrance. Our driveway is narrow, low hanging branches and no turnaround. It creates a very dangerous situation for you which is easily avoided if you can see the intersection ahead of you where the sign to the RV entrance is prominently displayed. CHECK OUT: Check out time is 12 noon. GENERATOR USE: Generators are permitted at all times. However, during your visit, we suggest that you discuss your desire to run your generator after 10 pm with nearby guests. During hot weather or cold weather or when solar is not available if another RV is parked nearby we suggest that you discuss among yourselves whether generators need to be quieted after 10 pm. If you have any special considerations such as medical equipment, very small children or other needs, let us know and we can locate you farther from others for your necessary generator use if nearby RV's have any objection. GENERAL CAUTIONS: No fires except in designated fire rings and only upon granted permission. If you see any tree stands or blinds along the way, please do not climb into or on any of them, they may be unsafe ** Watch bees in our bee yard from a safe distance. ** Do not cut or pick any vegetation without permission. ** Do not open or enter any buildings ***SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING OUR NATURE WALK*** While on our nature walk, please be aware that the ground may be uneven, roots, rocks and slippery spots will be encountered. Appropriate footwear and leg protection rom the occasional thorny growth, sticks, stumps etc. is advised. The longest trail is approximately 1.5 miles, there are shorter trails and comfortable wildlife viewing areas to rest. This is not a “hike” so to speak, but intended to be a leisurely stroll under the canopy of large trees with informational signs along the way. However, some hills may be steep and some parts of the trail require exertion. Because all recreational activity at Steepleview Farm is free of charge we are exempt under Kentucky Law from any and all liability. Have a SAFE and Enjoyable Visit!

ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: HOW MANY NIGHTS CAN WE STAY: We will accept up to 3 nights. Additional nights may be available so feel free to ask. WHAT ARE THE CHECK-IN CHECK-OUT TIMES: Check in anytime, we prefer around 4:00 pm, but MUST BE Before Dark local time please. Check out time is a flexible 12 noon. Details will be sent to you on confirmation, along with driving directions and parking information. CAN WE RUN GENERATORS? Yes, until 10 pm, all night if others near by don’t object. **NOTE** Quiet RV type generators with low dB are preferred. Further restrictions on loud generators may be required depending on weather and time of day or day of week (e.g. Sunday Mornings) CAUTION: If you are traveling on I-71 from the north or the south DO NOT USE EXIT 62 to US 127 Glencoe/Owenton. A Homesteader of 35 years, organic gardener and keeper our 170 acre farm Details: NOTE: BDW has an expiration date on stay requests. Due to the popularity of our location we can only accept requests within 7 days of the expected arrival. If by some chance you request a date farther out and it expires, don't fret. Just re-submit and we will honor it within seven days of your arrival. Next: Reserving with us is a bit different than many places. We have an ever increasing number of guests and we love it. But, managing the number required us to implement a very easy to use but vital process. If you request to stay you will receive a notice that we will ask you to send us a TEXT message. Why? Some people book several sites and then pick the final one without letting us know. We will establish a text thread that will allow us to keep in touch, allow you to receive the ONLY directions that will work for you (trust me, your GPS and map software will not be your friend here). So welcome, we look forward to hosting you and remember, our text message process is mandatory to confirm your reservation. Now, a bit about us. We are Marc and Harriet Carey. We met when we were 15, dated in high school and have been married for forty seven years. Here at Steepleview Farm we raised two fine sons, acres of crops, hundreds of cattle, and a lot of wonderful pets. We started homesteading here 35 years ago. We studied, learned and used the old time methods of clearing the land and farming with hand tools. Besides canning, freezing and preserving our own wonderful food we also learned the art of smoking meats, curing hams, and the ancient art of fermentation. With our children grown and raised, and grandchildren arriving, we began thinking of how we might use the farm in a way more suited to our love of home grown, all natural, NON-GMO pesticide free food. We traveled across the United States in search of the best, healthiest and most flavorful food in America and what we found was a wonderful community of newly interested people dedicated to farm to table programs, exactly what we’d been doing all along. We are blessed beyond our wildest dreams to have made Steepleview Farm our home. And are thrilled to share the blessings of our little piece of heaven with you. Home Town: A town that doesn't exist anymore called Poplar Grove, in Owen County, Kentucky. Favorite Boondocking Locations: Why, Steepleview Farm, of course! Skills or Expertise to Share: I am a storyteller, an organic gardener, an historian and with our children we began homesteading 35 years ago, clearing land and doing it all the pioneer way, with hand tools and antiques.

Superb communication and directions to a wonderful Harvest Host location. Easy in and out, about 7 miles off the freeway on great roads. The farm was closed for the season, but was still allowed to spend a couple of nights.

this review has been long delayed because when we returned home my husband became ill, now that things have settled down i wanted to write a review of our stay. We wanted to stay at a place that was close to the Ark Encounter so we came across this HH. although its about 25-30 minutes away, it was a beautiful country drive, so we didnt mind. The host returned our request very quickly, made sure we had a level spot and we were able to stay 3 days so we could take our time while touring the Ark. although he was very busy he took time to sit and talk with us and tell him about the farm. The jams that they make with the fruits they reap were delicious and my whole family enjoyed them when we returned home! Nice place to stay and would definitely return!

Perfect for our trip to the Ark and surrounding area! Just off the highway, but rather peaceful. Beautiful sunsets!
