We spent 5 nights at Steil Safe Haven as a stopover on our way to points west. Mark was outstanding in his communication prior to our arrival. Once we arrived, he greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. His FHU sites have everything. Sewer gear, water hose, cable TV and ethernet cables. It's the most well provisioned boon docker's welcome or Harvest Host location we've ever stayed in. While we were there, it reached temperatures in the hight 90s with high humidity and he stopped by to make sure everything was working as expected with the power for AC. The nights were very quiet and there were a number of times where we saw deer hanging out by the corn in the evenings. We have friends in the surrounding area, and hope we can stay here each time we come back to the area.

We couldn’t ask for anything more…Mark was a great communicator & the hookups were above & beyond expectations. Our 3-nite stop allowed us to visit friends nearby, walk to the Freedom Rock, & geocache in the area.

4-night stay April 30 – May 4, 2023. Steil Safe Haven is a great destination to kick back and enjoy the heartland Americana around northern Iowa. Host Communication, hospitality, facilities, and ease of access are as good as it gets, the host goes all out to make you feel at home. The amenities listed in the hosts’ profile are correct to what’s provided. The parking site is level, hookups all work. Any rig size works (our rig is 60’ combo, 13’-5” high no problem). We walked out to the east fork of the Des Moines River then checked out the Humboldt County “Freedom Rock” located across from city hall. If you’re a cyclists go down to Humboldt and check out the “Three Rivers Trail”, we walked a portion and found it enjoyable. Planting season was in full swing, we enjoyed seeing farmers working in the fields. We’ll stay again if we’re in the area. Thank you, Steil Safe Haven for an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
