We are located in southern Cochise County just a few miles from both Mexicos - Old and New. We are located off AZ Hwy 92 between Sierra Vista and Bisbee between the Coronado National Monument and the San Pedro River. This area is a destination of its own - with its sky islands, protected riparian areas, great birding opportunities and a colorful history; or it can be a nice stop along the I-10 or US-80 east/west corridors if you are on your way to either Arizona from the east or New Mexico from the west. This was home to the Apache nation led by Cochise. This is the area of rough and tumble Tombstone - the town too tough to die. And, this is where sky island mountain ranges form a connection between North America's two great mountain ranges - the Rockies and the Sierra Madre - to provide migration routes to thousands of species of birds. We have built our home on just under six acres of land located in the San Pedro River Valley within view of the Huachuca Mountains, the Mule Mountains and the San Jose Peaks. We can accommodate up to 26' long travel trailer and its tow vehicle or up to 30' long motor home. If you tow a toad with your motor home, you may have to unhook before making the turn into our driveway. You are required to drive about 1 mile on dirt roads to reach our property after turning off AZ Hwy 92. Suggested Local Attractions:Bird-watching and hiking in Ramsey Canyon, San Pedro Riparian Area and Chiricahua National Monument. Visit Coronado National Monument and learn the story of Coronado's explorations through this area. Visit Tombstone and the OK Corral. Visit Bisbee - an old mining town that is converting into an eclectic center for artists and hospitality. Tour the caves at Kartchner Caverns State Park.

Location

Access Road Conditions: We are located about 1 mile off AZ Hwy 92 on a dirt road. The roads are not steep, but they are also not maintained by the county. So, they can be rutted and bumpy and difficult to drive during a rainstorm. The roads are narrow and the turns can be tight. We are able to navigate the roads in our RAM 1500 pickup and 25.5' travel trailer, but I would not want to do it with anything longer than that. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: We can accommodate up to 30 foot long (end to end) motor home or up to 26 foot long (end to end) towable with a standard sized pickup. If the 30 foot motor home is towing a toad, it will have to disconnect before making the turn into our driveway.

Six acres in beautiful southeast Arizona Details: We are located in southern Cochise County just a few miles from both Mexicos - Old and New. Our RV is a 2019 Winnebago Micro Mini towable that is just over 25 feet long end to end and has one slide on the driver's side. We pull it with a 2017 RAM 1500 pick up. Both vehicles are in fine shape and well-maintained. Home Town: We live in Palominas, Arizona. A full description is contained above. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We have not done much boondocking with our RV, but we are looking forward to use our self-contained home in this way. All of our favorite camping spots - Mingus Mountain, Mount Graham, Mormon Lake, etc. are great tent sites, but not accessible to even a small RV like ours. We are enjoying putting together a new "favorites" list. Skills or Expertise to Share: We have loved the outdoors for many years - since we were kids. We have been camping, hiking, backpacking and biking for many years and only recently added an RV to the mix. We have a lot of equipment and expertise for camping, cooking outdoors and enjoying nature. We also built the house we currently live in. It is a passive solar design and completely off grid using a PV solar system to power the house. We have gained quite a bit of expertise in building houses, solar design and permaculture as a result of moving to a rural setting.

We spent 4 nights here and it was the perfect spot to see the sights and come back at night to enjoy the peaceful location. Slept so soundly and enjoyed the sound of nature all around us. We didn’t see much of the hosts as they were under the weather but hope to return at some point to get to know how they developed their incredible homestead.

Perfect spot, very private and quiet. If you have a dog they will be in heaven, big yard all fenced in. The Hosts and so kind, friendly and pleasant. Can’t say enough good things about them! And if you’re fortunate enough you might meet the very friendly neighbor horses.
