Our property is a heavily forested Certified Tree Farm that butts up to State Forest land. If you want quiet and stars we have that in abundance; also wild animals. There are nesting hawks, deer and the occasional moose, fox or coyote that saunters through but only if you are quiet. The forest is great for hiking or for wildcrafting of edibles. We ask that all foraging is done with sustainability in mind. Locally there is a piano museum and many working farms. There are many lakes and mountain hiking trails nearby, we can direct you to them. We are a retired blacksmith (with working forge) and a retired professional baker that love to share our space, love of the forest, fire pit and yard with new friends. If we have the outdoor wood fired oven going, you will be invited for pizza too. The fire pit in the yard is usually burning in the evenings weather permitting. It is a great place to cook over the fire, have a beverage and share stories. We can also set you up with a private fire pit if you want. I love to share information with folks on campfire cooking, bread baking (GF too), raising chickens or stained glass. Bruce loves to talk about building techniques (he built our home, shop and camper), metal work and how to read the forest.

Absolutely NO OUTSIDE WOOD is to be brought onto the property due to hitchhiking invasive insects and their eggs. We will supply free wood for burning in the fire pit. No smoking near the house but smoking is allowed around your rig. Please do not leave cigarette butts on the ground. No generators after 10pm. No dogs near the house during the day due to our free ranging chickens and hunting cat. They are in at night.
We are on a well maintained dirt road. There are numerous places to park on dirt or grass, some are easily accessed by big rigs and some are not. Class A and Tall 5th wheel rigs will be brushed by tree branches and cannot navigate our road without scratching. Depending on where you want to park there is a turnaround. There is separate tow vehicle parking if needed.

We are a retired couple who vacation in our hand built truck camper sometimes towing a trailer that carries our Dune Buggy. The buggy means that we do not need to break camp to go off exploring. Here is a video that was made of us when we were a display rig for Overland Expo a few years back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlgxR2FYYx4 . We are homesteaders who love to meet new friends.

My stay and Bruce and Joy's were outstanding and exceeded my expectations. The property is impressive, and I enjoyed my hikes. I also enjoyed our fireside chats and spending time with them during my stay. I look forward to revisiting Bruce and Joy, as it's at the top of my list. I have a 16' trailer and easy access with level ground.

Bruce and Joy are amazing people with so many life experiences to share. Their property is beautiful and hidden down a back road. We were able to get our 40’ class A down the access road with a few young branches brushing our rig. There is plenty of room to maneuver into their primary parking area beside the barn. I hope we have the opportunity to visit them again.

We loved our stay with Joy and Bruce and truly wish we could've stayed longer. They have a lovely spot on the woods and were so very welcoming. They are amazing artisans and it was wonderful to see their workmanship.

We had a delightful stay at the Forge and the Oven. Bruce and Joy are most gracious and welcoming! Joy made some delicious pizza and strawberry shortcake during our stay. They gave good advice on things to see in the area and helped us out of a pickle a few times. Thank you for welcoming us in your slice of Heaven.

There aren’t enough compliments that we can give to Bruce and Joy. The location is heaven and the hosts are beyond welcoming. Bruce gave us a fascinating tour of his workshop and shared his brilliant metalwork and Joy made us a brunch that included fresh crumpets! A gift of fresh eggs as we left had me almost in tears. We simply didn’t want to leave. Amazing!
