We live in a small town (pop <5000). It is rural yet close to major highways. We keep bees, and there is room for your dog to be off leash---please clean up after. We hear wild animals around-- coyotes, racoons, skunks, turkeys, hawks and deer. There is space for 2 vehicles at the beginning of our driveway, near the road. Suggested Local Attractions Nearby: Lyman Orchards has seasonal pick your own; Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort has mountain biking, zip lines, winter sports, great restaurant and more. Restaurants of all kinds (Tibetan, Indian, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Italian) are in the nearby town of Middletown, which is home to Wesleyan University. Lots of hiking spots nearby, including Wadsworth Falls. We keep bees, so if you are interested in buying local honey, talk to us!

Active retired couple Details: My husband and I are retired, starting to travel in our small travel van. We keep honeybees and we built our own passive solar timber frame home in Connecticut. Our 20 acre property includes a stream, fields and woods, which you are welcome to wander. Home Town: Middlefield, CT. Halfway between Boston and New York. Skills or Expertise to Share: My husband had a 33 year career as a practicing licensed arborist, and knows a lot about trees, pruning, removal and tree diseases. In retirement, he is making furniture from large old trees that have had to be removed, for whatever reason. and keeps almost 20 hives of bees; some are on our property. We have a large organic garden.

We needed a place to stay for a night and they were very accommodating. Easy in, easy out. Very friendly and even gave us a little lesson in bee keeping. Thanks for a great, albeit short, stay!

We had 2 nights on the Honey Poole property and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The road is a bit noisy during the day and VERY quiet at night! Coyotes serenaded us at night. We hope to stay with Alan and Nancy again. We highly recommend these hosts - The honey is great! Be sure to ask about purchasing some. Also, there is a lot of great hiking nearby.

we really had a great time with Nancy and Allan. Really nice hosts. Our children and ourselves had the right to a course on the life of bees. The only thing we can say is that it is fascinating. we won't forget you. thanks again !

We came to Connecticut for a short visit and stayed here for two nights. It was great to meet Allen and learn a little about his bee keeping. Another guest was already situated when we arrived and there was plenty of room for both of us. The property is nice, level and shaded. It was close to the road but it was relatively quiet during the night.
