Our 8 acre parcel in rural north Florida is a part of 160 acres that has been in the family since host's great grandparents homesteaded in the late 1800's. The area has multiple natural springs where Manatees live year round. The famous Suwannee River is just a few minute drive and the Gulf of Mexico is a pleasant drive. This is not the Florida of white sand beaches and palm trees, but it is full of old Florida nature and southern charm. The area is called the Nature Coast for a reason, as there's plenty of outdoor activities available:: fishing, Kayaking, bird and Manatee watching, and biking. Cell signal is rather sparse with Verizon, you just have to find the right spot. Not sure about the others because we only use Verizon. Data connections: AT&T works okay. Verizon device is hit or miss. TMobile device works okay. Sprint is another hit or miss. Suggested Local Attractions: Natural springs are all over this area along with the Suwannee River. Cedar Key and Crystal River are excellent areas to explore with an easy drive from The Old Homestead. Our part of Florida is called the Nature Coast for a reason as there is fishing, hiking, boating, Kayaking, biking or bird watching. You will find a lot to keep you occupied. If you're a Gator fan, UF is also within an hour drive.

We had a change of plans and could not make the first night because of weather. Van and Linda were great hosts and we had a nice chat. The property is perfect, just wish we could have made it earlier for a second night. Surrounding area had some interesting sites that we wanted to visit. We will definitely stay here again.

Great spot for a relaxing evening. Linda took the time to meet us at the road and guide us to where we were to park. Flat, grassy area. Linda & Van were very gracious hosts. Thanks for the peaceful night. Will definitely come again when we are in the area!

We stayed two nights. Linda & Van we’re great host! Glad to see there are still great like minded folks out here. Parking was really easy. We took the recommendations from a previous poster and visited Manatee State Park, so cool we saw manatees, turtles and some snakes. Great place. Highly recommend this host if your in the area. Van & Linda, Thanks for a wonderful, peaceful two night stay!
