We are on a fairly quiet rural road. We have a huge front area and a large driveway that used to be home to semi trucks and trailers. We also have a large back area that used to have horses and is more private. Suggested Local Attractions:We are close to Minneapolis (45 miles), Hinckley Casino (30 miles) and Duluth (100 miles). We are across the road from 2 large lakes with access close by. Great for fishing and kayaking. Nearby Cambridge has many shops including Walmart, Fleet Farm and Cub Foods. Many options for dining out as well. We have a large fire pit area and welcome all our guests to join us on our patio for food and refreshments. The griddle and grill are always on!

Retired with lots of room! Details: I retired, earlier than expected, with lots of room to spare. I have ideas about traveling some but will be home doing projects too. I am between Minneapolis and Hinckley with plenty of places to explore close by. There is a very short walk to a lake, a public access 1 mile away and lots of area to bike. Home Town: I am from St Louis Park, MN. I have lived in this home in Stanchfield for 23 years, have raised our two boys (and their assorted friends) here and enjoy their frequent visits. Favorite Boondocking Locations: So far I have not had the pleasure of traveling farther than a few places here in MN. My favorite so far is a small lake in Cohasset, MN. Skills or Expertise to Share I have a medical background and love all kinds of projects. Always puttering with something, love entertaining, cooking and have a large fire pit I enjoy using as much as possible.

Darla is an amazing host! She is very accomodating. We had dinner provided to us for several nights and she also let us do laundry there as well. It was a great time to playing games, bonfires, and visiting with her, friends, neighbors, and other Boondockers there as well. Would love to stay there again and would highly recommend!

We had such a lovely time with Darla. We use Harvest Host a lot, but this was only our second time using a Boondocker's welcome. We were pleasantly surprised that Darla had invited us out for drinks at a waterfront restaurant nearby and generously cooked us a delicious meal! We met her sweet dogs and a darling close friend of hers. There was another couple that had been boondocking that joined us for dinner and we played games and had a bonfire! It was so nice to spend time with such wonderful people after traveling just the two of us for over 4 months. We also had electric hook up and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Darla is an incredible person and host, and we are very grateful we crossed paths!

Darla is an amazing hostess! She's friendly and hospitable and goes out of her way to make sure your visit is perfect. For those of us with big rigs, it is not far off of I-35, close to the cities on the north side, paved roads all the way, and your choice of flat and level grass or nearly flat and level gravel drive. She has 15 amp electric which was more than enough for our air conditioner and other electronics and she has good well water, as well. We were 10 to 12 minutes from Cambridge Minnesota where we got groceries and other essentials. We had intermittent data issues but that could have been our own hotspot. We were there with another couple who didn't have an issue. We definitely plan to be back and we definitely plan to stay in touch with her. Mark and Lynn Winge and Tallulah, full timers

What a Rush was easy to find and had a large open area to maneuver and park. Darla Thurner was a warm host. As we sat and visited we discovered that we had a lot in common, starting with both recently having lost our spouses. There is a terrific lake front restaurant a short walk away. Otherwisen this is in a remote area but has all you need within 10-15 miles. I moved on before I wore out my welcome, but wanting more time with my new friend.

We stayed 3 days and 2 nights. Darla was there to meet us with a smile and helped fill our RV water tank and setting up for our stay. She has two great, very sociable dogs that are so fun to play with. Caroline and I have made a new friend and will definitely be back. There is a great restaurant nearby with a beautiful lake view too.
