About
We're located in a subdivision called Timberland Acres just 8 miles outside of the town of Show Low off of Hwy.260. We have a number of lakes in the area as well as hiking trails. We're just an hour's drive or less from Petrified Forest NP in Holbrook and the Painted Desert. Fort Apache is an easy drive as well. The Grand Canyon is 3-4 hours away so it's a 2 day trip most likely. We're close to Sitgreaves National Forest on the Mogollon Rim, trails for quads and ATV riding in the area. Horses are welcome. We're in the tall pines/oak forest with cedar and juniper trees at 6300' elevation our summers are mild--we get snow in the winter, so best to check the weather. Suggested Local Attractions: Fool Hollow Lake, Rainbow Lake, Show Low Lake, Sunrise ski resort--summer or winter, numerous hiking trails, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, Fort Apache, Hon-dah casino many other lakes, ponds and good birding areas. Show Low History Museum, SL City Park has a dog park that's fenced and nice walking trail on the corner of Hwy. 260/60.

Retired and Living in the mountains Details: My husband and I enjoy camping and traveling. We've had an RV or travel trailer for most of our married life, 30+ years. We’re also members of a retiree group called Evergreen where couples stay in our guest room for $20/night which includes breakfast. We have a 1 acre lot so there’s plenty of space for RVers. Our area is a four season vacation area with lots of recreation opportunities like golf, fishing, hiking, skiing and more. I was a teacher for 32 years and my husband Tom spent 30 years in construction in southern CA. We have 5 children and 8 grandchildren. Since retiring in 2006, we’ve traveled and I have worked as a Realtor while Tom has kept busy with handyman jobs for friends and family. Home Town: Show Low is the retail hub of the White Mountain area. As mentioned there are many opportunities for a wide variety of recreational activities—golf, hiking, skiing, fishing and other winter activities. Mild summer temperatures allow for canoeing on lakes, biking and hiking. The ski area allows mountain bikers to ride to the top of the ski lift and ride down. Favorite Boondocking Locations: Oklahoma Rt. 66 and Missouri Skills or Expertise to Share: Information about the area... places to hike, fish, etc. We’re close to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert about 3 hours from the Grand Canyon. We have trail maps, info from the Chamber of Commerce and travel brochures.

House Rules
No smoking, in summers when driving in the area be careful of dragging safety chains as sparks start fires. We do have an enclosed fire pit that can be used--not exactly a fire ring. We have a dog-run that's fenced for dogs to be off leash. Generators off by 10 p.m. is appreciated. No rush to leave, we're retired, the patio, picnic table area can be used and enjoyed.
Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: State highway turn-off and then paved to the driveway which is cinders or gravel. Good access---but not a lot of maneuvering space, probably have to back in or out using driveways across the road from our house. Best for units under 30' probably due to turns--in the trees. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: We have a 1 acre lot with 3 driveways-- and the main drive in the middle has extra parking spaces. We have our 25' trailer in back, but an RV can park in front of that and is the best place for water hookup. We don't have a septic hookup, just 15 amp power & water. Our power doesn't allow for using microwave or anything higher than 15 amp. We've had to replace a GFCI outlet on the porch twice so please be considerate and don't use your microwave or more than one electrical appliance at a time. Tow vehicle can also fit in that driveway or in our middle driveway.
