About
We are located about 80 miles north/west of Yosemite National Park, and also about 80 miles south of Sacramento CA, the state Capital. We have TWO Host sites - Oakdale Farm #1 and Oakdale Farm #2. These two Host RV sites are on the SAME property and only about 100 feet apart. #1 has full hookups for any size RV. #2 has power and water for RV's under 25 feet. Please make sure to request a stay at the appropriate site for the size of your RV. We are on a 21 acre farm, between the towns of Riverbank CA and Oakdale CA. We are located on an unlit two lane paved county road between Riverbank and Oakdale California. We are beside a local train track, which is used to haul farm produce and lumber, so there will be train noise on occasion. We are not near the Stanislaus River. Our circular driveway is road base, and the RV space is nearly level gravel. There are four homes on our 21 acre farm, each with separate driveways. If your stay request is approved, please refer to the Farm Map image that marks which of the four driveways you need to use to enter the RV staging area. We also have a small portable A-frame sign with the fake address 6723 (GPS will not find 6723) that we will put out along the county road to help direct you to the correct driveway. If you plug into our 50 amp power or 30 amp power, please be prepared to donate towards our utilities. You are welcome to use our dump station and also hook up to our well water supply, no donation needed for those items. If your RV uses only 30 amp power - be sure that you have an adapter that goes from 50 amps to 30 amps. We have 15 acres planted in peach trees, with a 1/2 mile circular road around the tree farm, where guests can walk if the farmer is not actively working with the trees. During the peach harvest, the RV site #2 will not be available. Guests are requested to respect the private areas of the homes. We have a community park area that we all use for relaxing, watching sunsets, having a campfire, or just socializing with each other. We have several cats, including three barn cats that have free access to all area of the farm to help us control mice and other rodents. If you have a dog, you must keep it leashed when outside. We have a 1/4 acre pond - no guests allowed in the pond area without specific permission, or in the barns. We are politically conservative and non-compliant, so if that bothers you, we will refrain from any political comments. Suggested Local Attractions: . Knights Ferry, located about 15 miles from our farm, is a historic gold town on the Stanislaus River, with a great natural history museum, and parking access for hiking along the river. There are two commercial river rafting companies there, where you can rent kayaks and rafts. There is a museum of local history about the mill that used to operate there. The exhibits include information about local wild-life and the salmon that migrate up the Stanislaus River from the Pacific Ocean. During the annual salmon migration in the fall, you can watch them from the bridge over the river. Knights Ferry also has one of the longest restored single-span covered bridges west of the Mississippi. The town has several restored businesses, including a little general store, an ice cream parlor, and a fun restaurant and bar where you can sit and eat and enjoy the river. Oakdale has an extensive ranching and rodeo history - the Oakdale Cowboy Museum is a wealth of information about the area. Oakdale has shopping, a summer Farmer's Market, and a number of excellent restaurants. In April the Oakdale Saddle Club produces the Oakdale PRCA Rodeo, a two day professional PRCA rodeo event, and it draws top competitors from all over the USA each year. Yosemite National Park, Sacramento, San Francisco, Modesto, Woodward Reservoir, Columbia Historic Gold Mine town, Sonora Gold Rush era town, Jamestown Train Museum, many local wineries within an hour's drive.
