About
The campsite is a large open grassy area surrounded by trees with 30 amp electric and water available. It's located about three miles from the Traxler (404) exit for I-75 with about a mile of unpaved graded country road to the site. The interstate is about a quarter mile away as the crow flies, so traffic noise will be heard, especially at night. The campsite is surrounded by tall oak trees, so falling acorns as well as squirrels, birds and other critters will be seen and heard. The campsite has plenty of shade in the morning and lots of sun in the afternoon. Just a word of caution, poison ivy grows in the woods and fire ant beds are around as well. There are deer in the woods, so there is always a chance of ticks. This being a rural area, gunfire will be heard during hunting season and neighbors sometimes target practice as well. The campsite is fairly level, but has a bit of a slope, so it isn't perfectly level. There is a 30 amp outlet at the campsite but it is located about 250 feet from the breaker box so some larger rigs may draw so much current that the voltage will drop and set off their watch dog voltage protector. Some guests with larger rigs have to turn everything else off in order to run the AC. We recently added a picnic table and fire ring(with free firewood) to the campsite for our guests to use. As the name implies, the campsite is secluded, surrounded by woods and the property is near the end of a dead end dirt road with very little traffic. You can walk along the dirt road under a canopy of trees without fear of being run over. If you're looking for peace and solitude surrounded by nature, then this is it. Suggested Local Attractions: About 7 miles from historic downtown High Springs. About 25 miles from University of Florida in Gainesville. Not far from the Santa Fe river and a number of springs that are popular for swimming, floating and kayaking.
