About
We have 7¼ acres with pecan, oak, hickory, and evergreen trees in a very rural area outside the very small "town" of Bronwood. We are up the Bronwood Highway (GA118) between Dawson (on Hwy US82/GA520) and Smithville (on Hwy US19). There are several mostly flat almost level grassy places on our property. Wet weather which is not overly common may make things messy. Sites 1 & 2 offer a lot of room on which to maneuver and depending on occupancy and ground conditions pull through access/around for smaller RVs. Site 3 with trees would be tricky for a long trailer or 40+' motor coach but doable, no pull through access though. Bronwood has a run down gas station/convenience store that can accommodate even large RVs with a little maneuvering. The gasoline/diesel fuels are somewhat pricey usually marked up 10% to 15% higher than down in Dawson or Albany. We currently cannot offer any on site hookups. Please no loud generators. RV generators and those explicitly built as quiet generators should be fine. None of our sites have WiFi (as indicated) but a new Verizon cell tower has been become operational about a mile to the east. Suggested Local Attractions:Plains, GA is a fifteen minute drive where you can see the hometown and historic sites honoring our 39th president, James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. Albany, GA, hometown of Ray Charles is about a half hour drive to the south is the closest "big city" hosting two Walmarts and several big name restaurants (Olive Garden, Cheddars, Golden Corral, etc...) and the Pretoria Fields brewpub. About an hours drive to the north is Columbus, GA with Callaway Gardens and the National Civil War Naval Museum and Fort Benning with the National Infantry Museum. Also in the same direction is Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon". Americus, GA with it's Historic Windsor Hotel and Raylander Theater is about 30 minutes northeast and additional half hour drive will take you to the town and National Civil War Prison Camp and Prisoner of War Museum and the Veterans Cemetery at Andersonville, GA. One of our favorite places is Historic Westville. We started visiting Westville years back when they were in Lumpkin, GA but last year they shut down and initiated a move just outside Fort Benning. Nearby is also the National Civil War Naval Museum.

Western raised southern settled retired couple Details: Bob is retired from the US Army and now retired from another 20 years working to support our deserving military. Rosie is actively pursuing her career of taking care of Bob, a basset hound, two cats, and a small garden pond with scores of goldfish and koi. Home Town: We both grew up in Southern California but Bob's military career has moved us around the US and Bob around the world. We have lived in southwestern Georgia for almost 11 years now. We are surrounded by mostly agricultural acreage yielding peanuts, cotton, corn, pecan, sorghum, and pine. Our Terrell County property is adjacent to the sleepy town of Bronwood. Their big claim to fame is being the hometown of country music star Cole Swindell. Nearby Leesburg happens to be the hometown of another country sensation, Luke Bryan. Americus to our northeast is the sleepy town waking up. It's very apparent that the city managers are very interested in drawing in the tourist traffic. They have recently begun hosting monthly "First Friday" events offering diverse attractions. This last Christmas season Americus has been our destination for holiday socialization. At about twenty miles south, Albany, Georgia is the closest "metropolitan" area but is lacking in a cohesive organized central core to attract much tourist attention. I've heard from many sources that for whatever reasoning this is the desired outcome of the Albany leadership. There is hope though. The last few years has witnessed the arrival a few more big name eating establishments and December saw the opening of a brand new brewpub in the downtown district. Favorite Boondocking Locations: Just getting started but very interested in visiting Big Mike in Homerville, Georgia. Skills or Expertise to Share: Astronomy, woodworking, computer programming, relaxing.

Parking & Arrival
Access Road Conditions: We are about 7½ miles off a four lane separated highway (Hwy US-82/GA-520). Access to our property is via moderately well paved two lane roads that require large RVs to be mindful of their lane when encountering oncoming traffic. Our driveway is relatively smooth alternating crushed rock and hard pack clay but has never posed a problem for our personal vehicles which includes a 37' coach with toad. We do not have "improved" sites, mostly open grassy areas. Following a period of moderate to heavy rains we may be forced to decline reservations for heavier vehicles. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Much of our property is open with dispersed trees. The three sites indicated are very generous in space.
