About
Staying at Maplegrove Farm: We would be honored to welcome you as our guest! We have worked hard to create a quiet, beautiful and serene setting for your stay. We do not sell products or experiences. We do ask for a donation of $30 per night, including the first night (in accordance with Harvest Host policy). If you would like firewood, we ask for $35 per night. There is a fire ring at each site. We accept PayPal and cash. About us: Welcome to Maplegrove Farm, an active family farm of more than 160 years! Established in 1861, our family was just one of 65 Swedish families that settled in the area. We were honored to receive the Hoosier Homestead Award, a program that recognizes families with farms that have been owned by the same family for 100 years or more in Indiana. Local Area: The farm is 11 miles south of Lake Michigan and 15 miles from the Michigan State line. We are situated next to Garwood Orchards, Indiana's largest Apple Orchard. You can tour the orchards, pick your own apples and shop their local market. The maple glaze doughnuts and apple cider are amazing. We also recommend a visit to the Dunes National Park (Indiana's only National Park). From the National Park website "Wind and waves have shaped the land, leaving a rich mosaic of habitats along these 15 miles of Indiana coast. Over 50 miles of trails lead through shifting sand dunes, quiet woodlands, sunny prairies and lush wetlands. Known for its striking plant and bird diversity, it's easy to find inspiration throughout the park’s 15,000 acres." Directions: The farm entrance is a stone road. You'll find woods on the right and a soybean field on the left. Drive .1 mile up the stone road, when you come to a Y (a pavilion will be on the right), please stay to the left. You will see a sign for Harvest Hosts. There are two sites. Choose the site that is open and best suited for your needs. The first site is a pull in, between the field and a wooded area. The second site is a back in. It is just past the garden, on the left, in the woods.
