Retired on 16 acres in rural southwest Indana Details: My wife and I have retired to a rural property and built our house on it using old barn posts and beams. We have 16 acres with a garden, ponds, trails and wildlife. We are about 25 minutes west of the Indiana University campus. We no longer have our Vanagon camper. (Maintenance got to be too much.) We have friends come to camp occasionally and always can enjoy new ones. We have traveled to all 50 states and camped in most of them, plus Canada and Mexico. We have been to China, New Zealand (camping most of the time), Germany, Sweden, Great Britain (mostly camping), Kenya and Belize. Our best trips have been those with the least pre-scheduling. Once in Maine we rented a pickup truck with a hinged back cover and bought a surplus mosquito net to camp in it for a week. Talk about fast set-up! I heard about Boondockers Welcome from a friend and thought we'd offer parking space off the beaten path. NOTE: Cell phone coverage here is unreliable due to the topography. Use our home phone number unless you know we are away. Home Town: Bloomfield is just a little town about 7 miles west with just over 2400 citizens. We are about 20 miles from Goose Pond FWA, one of the best birding spots in the Midwest, and about 5 miles from the Tulip trestle, the 3rd longest railroad bridge in America.
