Free-spirited freelancer Details: I am remarkably successful at avoiding four-lane (and wider) highways, especially interstates (even when I'm not pulling my trailer), so road trips mean stoplights and stop signs, seeing real towns and talking to real people, driving with the windows down, eating real food, and taking my time. There's always a camping tent in the car, and when the weather is right (especially when the sky is clear and filled with stars), that's where I prefer to sleep. Home Town: If asked where I'm from or where home is, I say, Santa Fe, New Mexico and environs. It's not where I live, but it's where I have spent most of my life,. If asked where I Iive, I say, for now, upstate New York, along the Massachusetts border. It's where I own a home, where I keep my stuff, where I park my trailer, mow the grass, and grow a garden from May to October. I Favorite Boondocking Locations: I travel cross country from upstate NY to Southern California and back each winter, when my favorite (luxury?) boondocking spots are my sister's driveway in New Mexico and my daughter's driveway in California; as well as on the property of friends along the way and of all the wonderful Boondocker's Welcome hosts I've stayed with on my travels. But for more basic boondocking, I like the Bosque del Apache (N.M.); a lovely quiet lake in northeastern Mississippi; Cajun country in southern Louisiana, (as well as all along the Gulf Coast); the coast of California; and anywhere near and along the Mississippi, the Rio Grande, and the Colorado River. Skills or Expertise to Share: I'm extremely handy and can fix lots of things, but not broken hearts.
